Cleaning garage: throw away gradeschool papers?

I'm finally cleaning out my garage and came across my gradeschool papers that my mom kept. I barely remember writing a couple of them, but for the vast majority I have no recollection. Should I throw them away? I hate pack rats and keeping crap you don't need or "might need someday in the future." I've also got a bunch of my childhood toys that I'm tossing. Anyone regret later on in life throwing away their childhood memories?

I went through the same thing a few months ago, got rid of boxes and boxes of paper and notebooks. Felt a little weird, but until now, I really haven't thought about it or even cared. I did keep a few select things which fit into a folder, just to remind myself of how smart I was back then.

Heck, at the end of the school year I would always toss out EVERYTHING (tests, notes, projects) - from grade school all the way to University. It gave me a sense of feeling 'purified'.

I wish that I kept some stuff though - to show my kids.

I would keep them, if it meant something to your mom, who knows.. maybe someday it will have signification to you too.
i regret throwing things out from my childhood that once menat nothing to me, now that my kids are getting older they often asked me to show them things that was part of my life as a kid and i have very little left.

Keep one of them to bring out and laugh at with your kids. I keep DLO's (Dear little ones) "pictures" - not all of them but one a year so later if she's interested she can see her developmental progress from year to year - also because they're cute.

Keep them and sell them to the kids at the elementary school who don't want to copy down an article in Zoobooks for their report on tigers...

Inconclusive information to give an answer. Scan and post one of the papers.

Find the good ones...scrapbook 'em.

I take all the dioramas my kids have made over the years and put them on the wall of the garage. Same thing with completed puzzles.

I am a complete, total, incurable packrat. If my wife ever decides to divorce me, it will be for that.

Save them for your significant other to throw away after you die.

Thats interesting. Its funny, my parents saved all of my schoolwork from grade 1-5, but nothing else. And now, it does not even cross my mind.
