ENOUGH ABOUT FLANDIS!!!!- The real question is did Pink Floyd dope?

Wow, just saw "The Wall" how mind blowing!!!!

Then watched the mix of "The Wizard of Oz" while listening to "The Dark Side of the Moon" . Again, mind blowing!!!!

All I can say is I suspect these guys of doping. Anyone got the telephone number for the UCI?????

I don't think they would even try denying it.

David Gilmour denied it once in the Live at Pompeii movie. I think he was doping when he denied it though.

I've got that movie. Actually, it was Roger Waters that said that. I about fell off my chair laughing when I first saw that part.

No way! Was it? I vividly remember it being David. He said, "You can trust us." Now I'm going to have to go dig it out and watch it again.

Wait, IMDB is my friend!

(See the quotes part.)

Or maybe you were thinking of another segment that I forgot about.

David Gilmour: Most people think of us as a very drug oriented group. Of course we're not. You can trust us.

Great Post!!!!!

Don't worry, I've giving the UCI a full briefing. We'll bag these hooligans.

You think the DSotM/Wizard of Oz thing is good try this one:

http://www.pinkfloydonline.com/echoes2001_setup.html

IMHO it's 10 times better and there's much more of an argument that it was actually on purpose. Make sure you use the Meddle Echoes version (23 minutes) and not any compilations as Echoes was sometimes chopped.

I didnt a had to do a music speech on a song with historical or political value, i choose pink floyd wish "you were here" because the song is about one of there band members that died from useing drugs during the drug movement in the 70s.

At least thats what i told my histroy teacher..

Now let's be fair here. Ol' Dave wasn't lying when he said he wasn't a dopeur. It's just that he was and the rest of the Floyd crew were so blitzed for about 12 years that none of them could remember that they were so blitzed. Part of the whole "if you remember the '60's, you weren't there" thing.

The bandmate in question is Syd Barret and he was very much alive when the song was written. The band lost him because HE was heavily into hallucinogenic drugs which basically killed his career. They were mourning the loss of him being there in the band with them and possibly the loss of his sane mental state. If Pink Floyd did stay away from drugs after the '60's this would probably be the reason why. I'm kind of thinking that they probably weren't into drugs for the most part. Maybe a few beers here and there, and possibly some weed but nothing beyond that. The tragic "loss" of a friend to drugs is enough to make others stay clear of them. That, and they are so damn mellow.

It's true that The Wall was about the Bob Geldolf character's downward spiral into addiction. Among other things. Many, many other things.
