Today's Thought for the day.

Some call it social isolation or disconnectedness. Often, it's just plain loneliness.

An age-old ailment, to be sure, and yet by various measures — census figures on one-person households, a new study documenting Americans' shrinking circle of intimate friends — it is worsening.

It seems ironic, even to those who are affected. The nation has never been more populous, soon to reach the 300 million mark. And it has never been more connected — by phone, e-mail, instant message, text message, and on and on.

Yet so many are alone in the crowd.

Very eloquently put.

My favorite is Robin Willams' version: "Hello? Suicide Hotline: Life isn't for everybody!"

No, but if you realize how bad that gov. institution is in need of reform, then you will see it as commentary on the ineffectiveness of gov. mental health institutions, not a dig at people who are in genuine need of help.

Suicide Hotline SUCKS.

wasnt meant to be funny, but more echoing the thought texas had on so many people are truly alone and it was a moquery to our system. Certainly not poking fun at people who need to reach out to others in bad times.

I hope this isn't your way of making an indirect, desperate cry for help, TG. We're here for you.
