bored at work

i have been sitting here all day. i'm a consultant on contract and paid by the hour, so i have to stay here all day even though they have nothing for me to do right now. i've been browsing the web aimlessly since 9am, and it's getting a bit old... i don't like being idle, it makes me very self conscious

oh well, it beats manual labor...

i've done some rotten manual labor in the past. unloading 80 pound bags of damp, dirty laundry from trucks and operating machinery that fails any safety requirements the county / state is too lazy to enforce ... oh and shoveling gravel for 8 hours a day in 95 degree heat ... i couldn't really see doing either of these things when my body is dead after 60 miles of pre-work riding ...

but there definitely is good manual labor, just none i've been fortunate enough to do.

Different strokes for different folks I guess. I've done my fair share of hard and dirty work, and perhaps more, but I've never minded. Pays the bills, and I like it better than sitting around. I suppose commuting with a bike would sort of even out the equation in any case.
