Comments Wanted

I am going in for my 31st surgery on Tuesday 8-15. This should be a simple cataract surgery, but because of previous eye surgey will makes this operation more compicated. Complications from cataract surgery on left eye left it blind. So I am looking for comments to people if my surgery does not go well.

I have a few for my feet already such as: I do not have a leg to stand on.
Don't make me take my leg off and beat you with it.
I have been defeeted!

The two I have planned for my eyes are: I am blind in one eye and cannot see out of the other.
I am blind dunba##, can't you see.

Any others good comments will be welcomed.

Sorry to hear about your plight, and I hope all goes as well as possible.

As far as witty comebacks for vision impairment, how about "You'll have to speak up, I'm blind".

Seriously though, prayers for a successful outcome on your surgery, Ed! With your attitude, I don't forsee any real problems with recovery, by the way!

I hope the Dr. will not lose it. They usually do not remove the eye for this surgery.

The only one I know of is from the Simpsons. In an episode set in the future, Ned Flanders was blind. He said "I got that trendy laser eye surgery. It was great at first, but at the 10 year mark your eyes fall out"

Good luck w/ the surgery. But if you do go blind, I'd tell every woman I meet that I have to feel their face so I know what they look like, then proceed to fondle their bosoms.

Hope all turns out well for you, and will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. However.... if things do go badly, please promise me you will get a t shirt that reads" I ran holding scissors" or"I ran holding a pointed stick" I also think it would be cool to have a glass eye that is a snow globe.

Sorry for not checking back sooner on this thread. Thanks for reminding me LilSprocket. So far the surgery has been a success. I am getting a little internal bleeding from retinopathy, but nothing serious. My far vision is good and my near vision is poor. So far so good. I just got released to drive and can ride a bike gently. It will be two more weeks before I can do regular rides.

My pressure has gone up to 21 after the surgery and this is what concerns me. The glaucoma surgeon is not worried, but high pressure is what caused the damage in my other eye. I will visit my local opthmamologist to keep an eye on the pressure. It took about two weeks for me to lose vision in my left eye, so only time will tell.

Thanks to everyone for your replies and well wishes.
