Ooooh boy.

Has someone that was special from your past (but you've moved on) ever come knocking at your door saying..."I miss you. Do you ever think of me?"

I swear my head is going to explode.

I always fear that former "someone special" knocking at my door saying..."Andrew...meet your son..."

Nope, but I've been the guy knocking at the door. I was looking for closure - I never got it. No matter what I did, I could not get this gal to tell me how she felt about me; the best she could do was "I think we should be friends." I would have preferred a "F**K OFF! and leave me alone!" It would have been honest and was how she truly felt. I eventully learned (especialy when dealing with women) that actions speak louder than words. After six counseling visits and a year of weekly support group meetings, I was able to move on. That was 15 years ago. My advice would be to be HONEST. Don't be mean, but be direct and say what needs to be said. This person likely has unresolved issues that need to be dealt with (by them, not you) so the sooner you tell them directly that they are a part of your PAST and you have moved on, the easier for everyone envolved.

WHAT A FOOL BELIEVES - DOOBIE BROTHERS
Kenny Loggins / Micheal McDonald

He came from somewhere back in her long ago
The sentimental fool don't see
Tryin' hard to recreate
What had yet to be created once in her life

She musters a smile
For his nostalgic tale
Never coming near what he wanted to say
Only to realize
It never really was

She had a place in his life
He never made her think twice
As he rises to her apology
Anybody else would surely know
He's watching her go

But what a fool believes he sees
No wise man has the power to reason away
What seems to be
Is always better than nothing
And nothing at all keeps sending him...

Somewhere back in her long ago
Where he can still believe there's a place in her life
Someday, somewhere, she will return

She had a place in his life
He never made her think twice
As he rises to her apology
Anybody else would surely know
He's watching her go

But what a fool believes he sees
No wise man has the power to reason away
What seems to be
Is always better than nothing
There's nothing at all
But what a fool believes he sees...

I swear my head is going to explode.
I'm always a little afraid that someone from my past is going to try to get me on the Jerry Springer show! I used to know some very strange people!

Once I had someone trying to recandle whatever it is that we had, that was more then annoying when I tried saying "it's in the past" and he continued trying. I found that there is no reasonning with people sometimes and the best way to deal with him was to tell him off and never talk to him again. You cant say to people who hope for more that you can stay friends, it never works. They stay friends in the attempt of making you change your mind.

Funny you mention that......

A person did last year. We emailed a few times, but nothing came of it. Then last weekend I saw her in public (she had just moved back area) by accident. I decided to blow her off, so I pretended not to see her.

Actually, I was the person from the past. Now I'm not talkin' just a bit in the past. We were best friends from kindergarten to third grade. Her family moved to New England and we eventually lost touch. When I came back from a tour in Korea, a mutual friend of our families told me where she was in grad school and that she wasn't married. We talked on the phone a few times, then I drove 25 hours to see her a few months later.

Now we've been married for almost five years and have just had a little boy!

My best friend from elementary school, the very guy who got me into bikes, more or less bumped into me on the introductions forum. His username is Miataspeed. He made one post, I responded and told him who I was, and he never returned to bikeforums, so I'm guessing for some strange reason he no longer wants anything to do with me. I guess thats kind of the opposite of what you were getting at.

I recently contacted a woman I was involved with about 20 years ago in college. At the time we were both pretty heavy partiers and our relationship suffered because of it. Things ended on a very sour note and I have always regretted it. I found her with the help of Google and decided to email her and apologize. She replied back with a very kind message that brought tears to my eyes. We have both grown into very different people and I was not trying to re-kindle anything, but contacting her after all this time was one of the best decisions I think I've ever made.

It's especially fun when they do it at your place of work. Your new place of work. In a city they had no good reason for knowing you moved to.

Think of me
think of me fondly,
when we've said
goodbye.
Remember me
once in a while -
please
promise me
you'll try.

FIRMIN
Andre,
this is doing nothing for my nerves.

ANDRE
Don't fret, Firmin.

CHRISTINE
When you
find
that, once
again, you long
to take your
heart back
and be free -
if you
ever find
a
moment,
spare a thought
for me

(Transformation to the Gala. CHRISTINE is
revealed in
full costume)

We never said
our love
was evergreen,
or as unchanging
as the sea -
but if
you can still
remember
stop and think
of me . . .

Think of all the things
we've
shared and seen -
don't think about the things
which might have been . . .

Think of me,
think
of me waking,
silent and
resigned.

Imagine
me,
trying too hard
to put you
from my mind.

Recall those days
look back
on all those
times,
think of the things
we'll never do -
there will
never be
a day, when
I won't
think
of you . .

(Applause, bravos. Prominent
among the bravos, those
of the young RAOUL in the
MANAGERS' box)

RAOUL
Can it be?
Can it
be Christine?

Bravo!

(he raises his
opera-glasses)

What a change!
You're
really
not a bit
the gawkish girl
that once you
were...

(lowering his opera-glasses)

She
may
not remember
me, but
I remember
her...

CHRISTINE
We never said
our
love
was evergreen,
or as unchanging
as the sea
-
but please
promise me,
that sometimes
you
will think of me!
