    Firefox cookies

Every time I try using Firefox it works fine for a few days and then it gets to where it will not keep me logged on to message boards and stuff. There are some boards it will not even let me logon to. If I clear all cookies I can get logged in for a while but after a short time it starts doing the same thing. Anyone else have this issue? Any idea what's going on? I like Firefox except for this one buggy problem.

Tools> Options> Cookies> Check the "Allow Site to Set Cookies" box and under Keep Cookies select "ask every time"

    This works great for me.

Sounds like something got corrupted.....try to clear cookies, then uninstall and reinstall firefox. My guess is it could be from a crappy plugin....there's a lot out there. A lot of people like FF for making a easy interface for browser plugins, however I hate it. It makes it too easy, so bonehead programmers with no experience create plugins and cause weird issues. Stay away from most FF plugins, IMO.

We have a mad-wicked-stellar librarian in my library who creates plug-ins for firefox for our students to use.
To date we can do all this from the toolbar:

    -search our catalog
-search alta vista (take that, google!)
-search google (yeah, we know )
    -tag using del.ici.ous

Wikipedia, eBay, amazon...+20 different plug ins. We haven't had a problem with them yet, but again, it's probably because our dude is a librarian robot who never makes mistakes. I'm hunting down the information for downloading, if anyone is interested.

I bet firefox cookies follow the GNU license. So they're free. Wooo-hoo! Free cookies!

I think that's because most of the search toolbar things don't even require code....I think they require nothing more than a few lines in an INI file or something like that.

Sorta seems like a pain in the arse but I'll try it a while and see if it helps my problem. Thanks.

You're welcome. It seems like a PITA at first, but since I started handeling my cookies this way my pop-pus have gone to zero. You'll want to dump your cookies too. Just once... this gets rid of any BS piece that are hanging around. You'd be suprised how many cookies some sites actually set.

Keep in mind all you need usuall need to allow is the first one. Most others are for hitcounters etc. Any site you interact with/ or might want to later on I tend to accept so the shopping carts recognise you.

Cool beans, glad it worked for you! Never too old to stop learning. When you stop learning, you stop growing, when you stop growing you start to die.

Yeah, they set a lot of cookies. I allow eBay cookies, but notice that when you visit some auction listings you get request to allow something e2j3458um49837, I never do. They're for third party tracking.

Things should settle down after a week or so.
