Just curious. I'm setting in a very crappy hotel in Lynchburg, VA. I left the house around 7:30 this morning, stopped by the bike shop around 8:00 am. I had to face the disc tabs on my new frame. Anyway, stayed there about 15 minutes and I was on my way. One wrong turn and about five hours later I made it to Peaksview Park. About an hour later I found the trail. I didn't find the start, I found it about the halfway point so I backtracked to where I thought was the beginning. About an hour and one nasty crash later I had finished a lap, at least I think I finished a lap. After that I found out that where I parked wasn't where the race started. Now I had to drive around to find the "other entrance" to the park. That took another hour and about five u-turns.
Well, now it was time to find the hotel. I actually got lucky on that one and found it in about half an hour. The one positive I have to give the hotel is that it was cheap. However, just because a hotel is named "Best Value Hotels and Suites" doesn't mean it's a "value". The place is filthy. I forgot how pleasant budget race trips are.
Anyway, I check in, take a shower and then head over to Lowe's. I needed a little something to space my cassette out about 1/32 of an inch. For some reason the cassette won't completely tighten without something. In the past I have just used a rubber band for a spacer, works perfect. This time I found some graphite banding in the Plumbing section.
Next it was time to find some food. I drove around for about an hour, couldn't find anything. I finally found the mall. I was hoping to find some type of sporting goods store as well, no luck. I really need a camelbak cleaning kit. My hose is getting pretty nasty. Anyway, they did have food. I found a Sabaro's and got some Spaghetti. Now it was time to find the hotel again. Not quite so easy this time, took me about 30 minutes and three u-turns, it should have only taken about 15 minutes.
Well, I finally made it back to the hotel and realize that their idea of a data port is a phone line. Oh well, better than nothing I guess. Next I take the wheel off the bike, take off the cassette, put my "hi tech" spacer in and reinstalled the cassette. Works perfect. Next I check the TV. Lucky me, I get about ten channels. A couple of which don't have football of nascar on.
Oh well, enough complaining. Time to relax a bit.
