If the world were only 100 people....

Please don't turn this into a political thread and get it moved...

Very neat piece. And yes, any political overtones and I'll boot it P&R in a flash.

Thanks for sharing KT!

They're interesting statistics but most of them are that way as a product of their generations. To me the movie seems to advocate socialism and communism in an attempt to help those who have been around for as long as us but never made the technological and cultural advancements that we had. They also seem to wannt to undermine the help we have done and the movie seems to be very US bigoted and make it look like we dont do jack **** even though we are literally one of the biggest contributors worldwide. I dont know of anybody who has given more money to more countries and cancelled more debt that countries couldn't pay then anybody else.

Those who have an internet connection chose many years ago to stop living in the stone age. To continuously improve and to impose restrictions on the community and put effort into that community to ensure that the next generation would have it better then the last generation.

I asked nicely didn't I? I asked not to turn this into a political thread and get it booted.

Why are Foo-people so afraid of having political opinions? It's okay to have opinions on things that are more important than "What color should I paint my toenails?" and "Will Britney quit smoking before her child is born?"

I'm wondering what it would look like if they did the same statistics using data from 100 years ago. What would the literacy, education level, poverty levels, or wealth distribution rate look like in that one? How much have many factors improved and which have stagnated or gotten worse?

What will they look like in 100 years? I guess that's the better question, since there is something we can do about that.

I complain about political topics in here for the same reason I recently complained about someone starting a recumbent discussion in the roadie forum. There's a place for it, so why not keep it there?

Most of the time there's some peple who can't control themselves and the discussion gets ugly, pointless, or just plain ********. As evidence, just look at almost any thread in P&R. The only other forum I read allows no politcal discussion what so ever; anytime there is one and a mod isn't there to delete it, it always gets ugly.

Exactly!

It's not that I can't take a P&R discussion....but THIS isn't the forum for it. I've seen good threads "die" by being forced (e.g. moved) into P&R because some people couldn't keep it non-political.

I have no problems with political threads, but this isn't the forum for it. If one wants to politicize that movie, then they should start their own P&R thread in that forum with it and have at it. I don't want to see a good thread get moved (again).

It's not that I can't "handle" something, it's just that I don't see why some people insist on posting stuff in the inappropriate forum.

I guess I see your point, like the music thread in SS/FG. Actually, most threads in SS/FG-Those guys are too cool for the rest of us.

Thank you for sharing that with us, KT. It put some perspective into my mind. Another way to keep me thinking. I try my best to give to others not only monetarily but mostly with my time. If I have enough to keep my surviving, I pass along any extras. I am by no means financially rich, but I will never forget where I came from, how my family struggled and how it felt.
