I generally text message with one friend of mine. Every Wednesday I can expect a message saying U ridin' 2nite. I then reply. That is pretty much all the texting I do.

Every now and then I'll crap out a one-liner, send it to a couple friends and see who responds. For actual communication, I'll avoid it. Though sometimes it comes in handy.

Yeah, but not too often. I do have friends that text me from their computers.

I only send text messages to one person. And I only get text messages from him.

One thing I like about Nextel is that I can text from their web site. Why is this nice? Because I can set it to deliver the message anytime in the next 6 months. I sometimes use it to set reminders.

I'll text when I don't feel like talking to someone, like my girlfriend. I'm not alone on is, my friend will text his girlfriend when he doesn't feel like having his ear talked off for 10 minutes when all he wanted to say is "Hi"

I do very little of it. Mainly back and forth with my two college kids, pretty good to cc them with We have guys at work that are addicted to their Crackberry's...not me, I don't want one. Want to send me an email, fine I will read it when I get the time. Want to call me, fine I will talk if I have the time. TM? I usually won't bother to answer

yeah I do --it's great in a crowded/busy place (club, hockey game, etc), and also great to just send off little one liners that don't quite need a whole phone conversation. Like where we're meeting for happy hour. I get a little annoyed when three or four go back and forth and turns into a conversation better handled (and faster) with a phone call.

And it's great to ping someone you haven't spoken to in a while, or don't know very well (but want to)

Ive never sent a text message, I rarely use the phone at all, but occationally, ill get a text message from somebody, thinking im somebody else. Usually, its an international one. Very irritating that I have to pay for every text message somebody sends to me, when they got the wrong number, especially internationaly ones. Next time Im going to have that text messaging turned off on my phone, when I renew my contract. I hope they can turn off the internet thing on my phone too. I accidently pushed the wrong button, and got charged for that too. Dont need all that photo stuff either.

I got a phone with a full QWERTY keyboard (blackberry), but have only sent maybe 3 text messages in 4 or 5 months that I've had it.

Texting is very popular in Europe due to the high cost of telecommunications.

For example, I get about 120 minutes a month on my mobile plan for around $16. I can send a text massage that has the same basic info of a minute conversation of about $0.05

In America where you get a gazillion minutes of talk time every month for $20 or whatever it doesn't make much sense, but in Europe we love it.

I miss the days when people called you at home or at work on a regular land line. If you weren't there, then they would call you back or leave a message. I hated pagers and I hate cell phones. I don't even like answering machines.

i have a fairly intense phobia of phones. i really don't enjoy using them, can't put my finger on why. i actually get nervous whenever the phone rings and my heart rate jumps a bit just before i answer it.

No, nor do I MySpace, (these two things are actually numbers one and two respectively on "Kris Pistofferson's List of Most Vacuous Things To Do in The Waiting Room of Mortality," or K.P.L.O.M.V.T.T.D.I.T.W.R.O.M. for short.)

Ironically enough I am posting this in "Foo," which is #9.
