    BikeForums.net subcultures

Each board on this forum seems to have a distinct flavor to them. Here are a couple of observations. Not meant to offend, just observations.

Advocacy & Safety: Bike lanes suck!
Regional So Cal: Local Rides galore!
Commuting: My light is better than yours...
Living Car Free: Bikes rule, cars drool!
    Long Distance Cycling: What's sleep?
Road Cycling: Money is no object.
    SS/FG: Sarcasm city!
Tour de France: Everyone dopes, even at local club rides.
Foo: Do some of you even own bikes?

That's actually pretty funny! And practically spot on. Except almost everyone in Foo owns some kind of bike. It's just not about the bike in here. (No pun intended)

Since I'm a Roadie and fairly OCP.... I own a whole slew of bikes, but enjoy the humor of the Foo forum immensely. The Roadie forum can be so dam elitist at times, so I hang out in here more. We're all like family.

that's pretty accurate except for the foo part, everyone has bike and could even kick the butt of some in the roadies forums...
It's comfy in here and enjoyable, I think most people in here and pretty secure about what they do or dont do so they can efford going online to joke around a bit
I also go in th roadies forums, mainly to take thier tension... not good, really should cut down on anger.

You also failed to mention the Politics & Religion crew.

I have a bike, and maybe 2-3 others...but it's all about the intellectual throwdown and verbal ownership in there! Plus we have a password. How many of you can say that?

50+ : "we thought we lost it, then we found it, now we're gonna use it before we lose it"

"Let us hope our weapons are never needed --but do not forget what the common people knew when they demanded the Bill of Rights: An armed citizenry is the first defense, the best defense, and the final defense against tyranny. If guns are outlawed, only the government will have guns. Only the police, the secret police, the military, the hired servants of our rulers. Only the government -- and a few outlaws. Again..like ovaleg's mine are meant to be funny:

Advocacy & Safety: Take the lane! That's right!... get you ass and your bike right in the middle of heavy traffic, so everyone can see you!
Regional So Cal: Local Rides galore! Ah...the weather in So Cal....envious.
Commuting: My light is better than yours...my paniers are older than your paniers...
Living Car Free: My bike has a peace symbol on it and I like granola bars
Long Distance Cycling: You do what? Century rides... bah...amatuer!
Road Cycling: Your stems not flipped, you still have your dork disk and you jersey doesn't match your bike....? Fred!! Freddie Fred Fred!!
SS/FG: If you've got more than one gear...your a wussie.
Tour de France: They all want to find out how to work r600duraace's wattage dial, so they can stop using EPO.
Foo: Foosters rule. What...you mean this is a bicycling website? Nah...let's go back to looking at pictures of Shadiyah's belly button!
P&R: The evil kingdom that should never be entered by rationale people.

I think there's definite "my bike's uglier than your bike!" subculture in Commuting.

This reminds me of THIS old thread:
    Stereotypes about different Forums.

My favorite was Cheq's post (#25).
