    miracles

this young ladie ( 16) from my town was helping a bunch of camp kids do exercises when she fell the wrong way.It was back in July, she complained of headaches and was rushed to the hospital.
She was to fall in a coma shortly after just to wake up days later and being told that she would be paralysed her whole life.
Of course at first she screamed and cried and didnt want to see anyone.
A few weeks later, before an operation she was caught joking with the doctors that she wanted a lipo at the same time.
The parents never gave up hopes, broughts many freinds to see her and called up a priest and a spiritual healer who performed prayers up upon her.
The very next day, she moved her leg.
The doctors said it was a miracle.
They quickly transferred her to a rehabilitation center in Philly and as of last week, she was walking with the help of an aid and a walker.
The doctors are truly calling this a miracle. ( btw the whole town has come together to help raise money for this family, her house will need to be handicap accessible for when she returns)

We all go through little or big events in our life that we call our little miracles. Maybe it's being able to have the child you were told could never have.
    maybe it's overcoming sickness.
Maybe it's becoming someone you never thought you could be.
What is your little or big miracle?

My wife and my two boys are my miracle. Biggest blessing I have ever received other than my Salvation.

Determination/drive/love/prayer are all powerful things. I'm glad to hear the girl's recovery is coming along. Who knows, she may yet be able to run one day. People have a great capacity to bounce back.

I'd be weary of any doctor that attributes a medical phenomena to a mystical source...

    Good story, nonetheless.

September 1982. My wife had severe abdominal pains so I took her to the ER. After a while the doctor (who I knew because at the time I was on the local volunteer ambulance) told me she was pregnant...but it was likely a tubal pregnancy which is a life threatening condition. An OB/GYN was on his way in to perform emergency surgery.

He decided to start with a laperoscopy so as to do as little harm as possible if it wasn't a tubal pregnancy. And in fact, it was not a tubal pregnancy, so he closed her back up.

Now, even though he performed minimally invasive surgery, many times abdominal surgery early in a pregnancy will result in miscarriage.

Time went by. In February she started experiencing severe leg pain...caused by the baby sitting on her sciatic nerve. She ended up staying in the hospital for 8 weeks.

The miracle? One of my daughters is going to school to become an art teacher, the other is running for Miss Maine USA in November.

    Yup I believe in miracles.

A few years back after purchasing our new home, our business burned to the ground.
We had no work for a while, a new house, a one year old daughter who was constantly in the hospital, she had multiple life threating allergies ( still does).

I took care of it all. My husband was in a deep depression for losing it all due to the fire.
My daughter needed medical care, my 3 year old was all over the place and i had a new home to worry about. I held on tight, I held everyone together but I forgot about me.

I was stressed and never told a soul, I wasnt eating.. I quickly fell to 102 pounds.
People who encountered me thought I was sick or had an eating disorder. It wasnt pretty.
I told my best friend that i wished I could run, she was awared that everyone around me was making fun of an 100 pound woman wanting to run. She told me " you can".

I started waking up very early before my family needed me and ran. I wanted to vomit the first time after a quarter mile. I had to fight a lot of bad looks, I was awared of how I looked at 100 pounds.
I went back out everyday. I still remember calling my girl friend the first time I ran a whole mile.
I put on muscle weight and started eating and was now 120 pounds.

2 years later I ran the Boston Marathon at 36.
I picked up, that year a bike for 5 dollars in a yard sale and rode I like crazy. I was made fun of but I kept riding and became strong from riding such a crappy heavy bike.
I bought myself a decent bike and was soon good enough to race duathlons.
That was my small personnal miracle, knowing that "I can"...

Since then, Ive kept my daughter safe from harm, educated schools about allergies and thier potential danger to a child and we have purchased a new business who does so much better then the one before

in a sense we are all miracles, and all of us have our own personal miracles and a chosen path to take, or a path that we have taken and still guides us.. I look at everyday as a great day and better than the day before. Maybe miracles happen from the strength of the mind and body, spirit, dignity and stamina to prevail against whatever odds we are up against rather large, small, or indifferent to others.

For myself my miracles are the love from my family, my grandchildren and being able to welcome each day.

"What makes you suffer makes you stronger" something i like saying. I have had: Samonillia posioning (When i was 1 1/2 years old), when i was eight i had Lyme disease, when i was 16 i had West Nile Virus. When i turned 18 i was diagnosed with Asthma, Last year i recovered from bleach posioning (Lost 8 pounds in less than 24 hours). Earlier this year i had an infection in my Digestive-track. From all that i can still walk, run and do everything else that a normal 20 year-old can do. Mental toughness is key and so is having a positive outlook in life .

My wife. I had two disasters of marriages before. She had one. I just didn't do being single very well. After the second wife left I spent a while dating normal looking women who turned out to be psycho. I started praying for a really normal, caring, honest, etc. woman. The next week I was out for pizza with a couple I know and she mentioned that she had a friend who was single and looking for a nice, normal guy. She had already arranged for her to be at their house for dinner the next night and of course I was expected there too. We were married a year later. Next May is our tenth anniversary. We both know now what marriage is supposed to be like. We're each others best friends and that is truly a gift. Or miracle.

PS - I probably pushed the normal thing a bit. We're both really odd, just in compatable ways.

My brother....the fact he is alive and not in a wheel chair or worse is a miracle.

I was not witness to the event. One Halloween when we were kids...me about 13 I'd guess, so he'd be about 9. I went with a group to help them (working in a haunted trail kinda thing) while my brother opted to stay home because he was going to go with my aunt and uncle on a hayride their church was having.

Well they had a big flatbed trailer (no guard rails) that they pulled the trailer with from a tractor for this hayride. On the way out a young girl maybe a year or two younger than my brother fell out off the trailer and got ran over by the trailer full of people. She was hurt bad...called an ambulance (later it turns out her pelvis was crushed and she's basically held togehter with plastic and pins now).

After that event and the girl was taken away in the ambulance, they turned the trailer around to head back to the church. They obviously weren't going to continue the hay ride. So they turned around and as I understand, did not get very far when my brother fell off and got run over by the trailer. However with him, it ran over his body lengthwise. It ran up his leg, across his mid section, torso and across the left side of his face.

So I come home from this weekend trip (helping the haunted trail thing) and I see my brother laying on the couch with a blanket on. It's not well lit, but something looks weird about his face. I jokingly say "who beat you up?".

Well it turns out that not one bone was broken; in fact nothing permanent at all happened. He had a bruise in the shape of tire tread all the way up his body and across his face and that was all. I think some of the deep bruising may have scarred a bit, but if so, very small and nothing noticeable at all.

So that's my closest miracle story.

Here is a relatively recent picture of my brother from a vacation we took together a few years ago to the Great Smoky Mountains.

I don't consider it a miracle that I am still alive, I just don't understand how it's possible.

I would say me having the family that i have, and the wonderful things that i have that some people can only dream of. Also that when i broke my arm my doctor thought i wouldnt get my full functionality back in my wrist movement, i ended up having it all back through pain and misory, i see that as a miralce because not everyone with such breakage can retain there function.
