    Is 2500 calories a day a must?

I never eat 2500 calories in the day. But I've read that's normal for most people. I think roughly I eat under 1500 a day. I do eat badly, but I don't eat alot. I'm just wondering if maybe I should be putting more in?

    So far today.

    Soda- 130 calories
    Granola bar- 140 calories

I won't eat again till dinner.

Of course I do take a multivitamin, and a vitamin e pill everyday. Maybe that makes up for nutrients.

Depends on how active you are. That wouldn't be enough for me, no. I probably eat that amount of calories for breakfast, some days. In the summer when i take long road rides, i eat breakfast before i leave and also when i get back.

Depends on how much activity you do daily.

I do go around 2000-2500/day. I need it otherwise I feel woozy towards the end of my days. I work too hard to get away with a low cal diet.

I've literally sat all day. That's why. You're right, days I ride I'm eating like crazy.

For the average joe 2,500 is the "Word". But for an active individual like you i think you should eat around 3,000 calories. You need to be eating more fruits and vegetables man and forget that soda stuff and start drinking Gatorade or V8, perhaps water anything better that soda man .

Yeah, if you sit around all day putzing around on BF BSing, then you wouldn't need a lot. I take in anywhere from 1800-5000 a day depending upon the riding. Cut out the sodas. While you're young with a fast metabolism, you can eat like crap and not notice it much, but those habits will catch up to you later...

    Holy

I'm not going to lie, there has been those times where I've eaten an entire pizza myself and drunk a blender full of shake. I'm still not gaining weight though

A multivitamin does nothing to make up for missing nutrients. Think of vitamins as catalists. If they are missing then some reactions do not take place. But without the nutrients the actions can not take place no mater how many vitamins you take.

I made a grilled-cheese sandwiche for lunch today:

    2 slices sour-dough bread
    10-15 fresh Italian basil leaves
    2-3 slices mozarella cheese
    2-3 slices provolone cheese
2 tablespoons shredded sharp cheddar cheese
    1 tablespoon shredded parmesian cheese
    1 large egg
    2 teaspoons flour
    1/4 cup half-and-half or whipping-cream
    pinch of cardamom spice
    pinch of salt
    butter

First, make the french-toast custard. Mix egg, 1-teaspoon flour and half-and-half in mixing-bowl and set aside.

Then toast the bread so that it's medium-dark. Coat both with butter. Add a sprinkle of salt to one and some cardamom to the other.

Sprinkle parmesian cheese on toast with salt, then lay down mozarella and provolone cheese. Next, lay basil leaves down on top of that, then sprinkle with sharp-cheddar, then top with remaining toast with cardamom.

Then dust the entire sandwiche with remaining flour, try to get an even coating all around, but not too thick. Dip into mixing bowl with custard mix and evenly coat the sandwiche, including the sides. Deep-fry in pan or fryer for 3-5 minutes until both sides are dark tan (flip halfway through). Let cool 2-3 minutes and serve with couple fresh basil leaves as garnish.

No idea what the calorie count of this monster is, but I'd guess it's around 700-1200 calories.

If I'm banging out 300+ mile weeks and racing on the weekends...then I may put back between 3500-6000 calories per day.

If I'm being a loaf of marshmallow creme pie, I may eat only 1500.

I usually just listen to my body...

Ah crap, all this talk of calories and such has reminded me that I have a lab to do before the end of the weekend. We have to keep track of what we eat and how much exercise we get for 3 days and enter it into a website. I better get started on that!

I float anywhere between 1500 and 5000 calories depending on how I feel. Still have a six pack. If you've never taken a nutrition course, I recommend it.

I've been fat and prefer thin. I eat more now than 2 years ago, I just eat better.

I try to stay under 2000 if possible. No soda, not too many carbs and as low glycemic index as possible, minimize saturated fat and eat good fats.

If you're not gaining weight and feeling good, then don't worry (OK, watch the saturated fat and cholesterol).

There's lots of low calorie diets with evidence that theyhelp reduce alot of the aging oxidants and whatn ot.
Life is about hanging onto what you think is important and finding out what really is important.

So many sayings, so little sig space.
