How long does it take for eBay to respond to listing issues?

Ok so out of the blue I get 43 emails after lunch to tell me that my items have been listed...HUH? Needless to say I didn't list anything. So I changed my password right away and emailed eBay.

This was a couple of hours ago and I haven't heard anything back. How long do things like this take them to get back to you? How the heck to you cancel an auction?

I hope you didn't click an internal link in one of those emails to do it! If so, you may have just given a phisher your ebay info! There is a forward address that you can send them to: spoof@ebay.com . Until then, log directly into ebay through the ebay page and IMMEDIATELY change yopur password, if your account hasn't been hijacked already!

Edit: If you use paypal and use the same password, (I hope not!), immediately change that as well! Just thought of that!

There is also a paypal phishing scam going on!

If you're a powerseller, a half hour to an hour. If you've only listed here and there it could take 24. Did you contact Safe Harbor?

No I am about 99% sure I wasn't that dumb...I went to my eBay bookmark and logged into myeBay sure enough there are 43 items listed.

My eBay and paypal passwords are different and like I said I changed my passoword first thing after I saw the listings were real.

What is Safe Harbor?

I have a feedback score of 54 and 100% and have only sold like 10-12 items over a period of a few years...I mostly buy things.

OK, that's good! Safeharbor is Ebay's security. Looks like there was either someone who cracked your password then, and has hijacked your account, or you may have a dataminer in your computer, or third possibility, is that there was a server screwup at ebay. In any of these cases, though, yopu need to address this with ebay to get these auctions closed and pulled before you wind up having a mess on your hands. Here is the Safe Harbor Forum over at Ebay.

Ok so here is a link to a basic search for the stuff that is being sold...there are a few other ids all with fairly little feedback...one other is in PA but one is also in CA. This is odd.

First order of business, as I said, is to notify Ebay....you've covered that!

Next, scan your computer for spyware and virus, if it's there, it'll be a dataminer or keystroke monitor. If it has this problem, your registry is likely contaminated as well. www.trendmicro.com has a free online scan and removal for ALL types of malware. It's a partner site for Microsoft. Worst case here is you may have to registry edit...not hard, just meticulous and time consuming.

Other than that, someone does appear to have definitely hijacked your account. When they track it back, it'll likely track back to Minsk, Finland or the Philippines and dead end at a misconfigured server.

I odd thing here is that this all happened since I have come back to work from a vacation....I am at work now and rarely use this computer for eBay anything (or that is what I tell IT anyway ).

I guess I have to call IT.

Ok so now that I am at home I took the time to manually delete all of the auctions...first problem: 2 items were sold and paid for second problem: of course the money didn't come to my paypal account.

So now I am trying to deal with eBay and I have sent emails to the buyers.

A bunch of ugly ass sweatshirts like this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/Bape-Hoody-Milo-...QQcmdZViewItem

I finally got online with the live chat from safeharbor last night and they took care of me very quickly. wiped everything off my record and said they would deal with the 2 buyers and that I shouldn't worry about that. They also had me change all of my passwords again (both email and eBay).

So I think I am secure but I still feel bad for the suckers that bid on these things.

Glad you got it addressed, now scan and check your personal 'puter to be safe! Better safe than sorry, right?

In all probability, your acct got hacked at the Ebay level, no server network is invulnerable, dont'cha know! Good luck avoiding this in the future!

Probably a dumb question, but have you made sure you don't have any data miners on your computer since it wasn't the email that gave these *******s your password? They had to get it, somehow.

+1

Ebay would prefer instances like this not occur. They also offer a service which is difficult to moderate, but not impossible. As a whole, they do it well.

Gawd, ya'll are right, anyone who bids on something like that has it coming to them! (not really, but wow those are ugly!)

Sounds like you've got all the good information you need already so here's one more "good luck getting everything resolved" for ya.
