Hey guys and gals - lots and lots of hard core cyclist in the Coast Guard. Since I started cycling two months ago I’ve lost 26 lbs and dropped my blood pressure from 135/90 to 120/70. Cycling gave me (and my family) my life back.
I'm still in the Coast Guard - 21 years. I’ve seen the movie "The Guardian" twice and love the fact that WE finally get some recognition and our first movie (which was well done).
Anyway, many of you youngsters are looking for a challenge in life. Think you got what it takes? Follow the following links and watch some movies WE have put together ourselves - meaning homer movies. These show the Coast Guard at work from actual Guardians personal videos, pictures, and pirated clips and they are awesome.
If you want a job that NO-ONE else can do 'cause their hunkered down behind sandbags and plywood glued to the weather channel, come ride with us...
In my 21 years, I’ve put away felon drug smugglers in the Atlanta Penitentiary, seen 30 plus foot seas MANY times, was underway off Cape Henry during the perfect storm (that sucked), was deployed for Katrina, and have either called hundreds of elated spouses and children to tell them of our rescue of their loved ones, or made next of kin notifications with my Captain for those we have lost. But the thing I’m most proud of is the people I work with every day.
And since I'm a retiring Chief - like the character Kevin Costner played - I feel the same way... the hardest part of hanging on...
is letting go...
Hang on (if you think you can…), it's 'sportin weather,
Feel the Coast Guard
When I look to the sky
