I saw Air Force One in flight today

...In Savannah. W was making an appearance for Max Burns at Georgia Southern and flew into Hunter AAF. I thought it was pretty cool.

That is all.

We have military jets flying over us all the time being right next to a naval/air force base. Pretty awe inspiring to hear one of them go boom over you

For the record, it's a Naval Air Station. The Air Force and TX Air National Guard are tenants there. I was stationed there from 02-04.

And no one should be going "boom" over you... that's a very bad thing!!

They went boom over me sunday when i went cycling. IT was pretty cool, sonic boom after sonic boom and a non-stop roaring. The sound of freedom on wings.

Again, trust me... those weren't sonic booms. They're illegal over the continental US.

Not sure what you heard... but if it was multiple sonic booms, it would have made national news with all the windows that were blown out, not to mention the reason multiple jets were exceeding the speed of sound over the US.

Even with all of the security that is going on i think all they ahve to do is prove that you're not a terrorist and then they give you your camera and the film back.

Only if you act guilty or are of very semtic descent or affiliation with other unreputable radical terrorist related ties
I have a friend who is big into airplanes and photography. Some nice photos of air force figher jets in action. There's also a few excellent communities devoted to photogrpahers who share nothing but photos of air crafts of all types, military, commercial, etc.

I remember hearing about how satellite imagery from the days after September 11 could not be released to the general public because the flight patterns of Airforce one could detected since its contrails were the only ones in the sky. And the gov't dont want you to know where its flying.

That is all.

That's both a good thing and a very scary/bad thing.

Actually, Skiaah, I believe there is a supersonic corridor down through TN and Ga, specifically fopr the Raptor test program. We used to get an occasional boom as the F22's overflew Chattanooga when I lived there from 1991 to 2003.

Hmmm... as with any rule, there are exceptions and there are numerous supersonic areas over the US where you can go supersonic. Usually very rural areas without many buildings and such. Nevada has several; I've been supersonic there. But the basic rule is 30 miles offshore before you go that fast. Or be above 30K. I wasn't aware of any in the TN/GA area, but certainly doesn't mean they're not there.

Most supersonic areas are offshore. Occasionally pilots do push just a little too far and break "the number". And it makes the news.

No clear shot Stacey.

Anyone see the Dilbert strip last week where Dogbert was debating everyone online and the mayhem that ensued? He must be a BF member.

Let's think about that for a moment. The only satellites capable of satellite imagery on the United States are controlled only by the United states? Planes also do not produce contrails 100% of the time.

Give me a break. Nice story though.

Yeah, you should see the FBI round up and delete the photos of military aircraft off of 100,000 digital cameras after the national anthem at a NASCAR event... it's enough patriotism to make your heart go pitter-pat!

Right... all those military jets patroling the skies that day weren't leaving contrails of their own?

Oh yeah, there were also the flights of the Saudi royal kin leaving the country in the air around that time, as well, correct?

Just sayin'.... our buddy W wasn't the only one up in the air that day....
