Well guess what, she has completely lost her mind

Thanks to those of you who gave some very helpful replies in my "What am I going to do, Karma awarded for good suggestions" thread!

She has really lost it. On monday, she comes into my class and tells me she needs to talk to me. (This is my ex girlfriend for those who are not in tune). THis is the first time she has spoken to me in 3 weeks, and by now I was really getting over her. I now realize this is the best for me, and my life feels less stresful. I, feel healthier. But anyways, she tells me "My friends told me to not even tell you about this and leave, or leave a note and that is all, but after 2.75 years of putting up with me I thought you deserved to know, I am moving to Arkansas. I have a train ticket for wednesday".
I am stunned. I know a it about this however. She is involved in yahoo groups, fanfiction, she is an excellent writer. She met some guy several months ago who is supposedly a screen writer. So they have been talking, I never really thought much of it. He did mention that if she wants to live with him after highschool and go to COllege in Arkansas, he will not charge her rent or anything.

So I tell her okay, thats her choice. SHe says "have a nice life" and walks off. I knew she was trying to escape, and is thinking that a new world in Arkansas will be much better than here in NH. So yes I am a bit concerned, I've still not completely gotten over her. I get a call tuesday evening from her parents asking if I know anything about where she is. Meanwhile, a teacher of mine who was also a teacher of hers, who is what you might say a friend of mine as well, asked about her. I told her about her Arkansas plan, she was shocked. She apparently contacts the police, who do a little investigating.

The parents call me, and tell me the results. This guy is 56 years old, single, lives in the Ozarks of Arkansas. THe town is green Forest. Also, the police went to the address this guy gave...

Unless he lives in a tree house, there was nothing there.

I guess that tuesday night her parents went to track her down, and her father did find her. BUt she was ranting and screaming about how she needs to escape this world, and how horrible I am (which I guess is a large contributor of her reason to go). Little does she know what awaits her....

I do feel a bit uneasy about this

omg... desperate, so vulnerable.. what a close call, hopefully someone will make sense out of her now, yicks, was a very naive thing to do!
that's kinda sad how people just go ahead and trust anyone, you'd think with everything that's out there about online predators that she would of known better!

yea, I hope she gets help. At this point, she is so screwed up she is her own worse enemy, and won't seek help until she has really screwed up. Meanwhile, she is going to be very easy to be taken advantage of, sickening to think about. I don't mean to be offensive toward anybody who has any connections or lives in Arkansas but...

Green Forest Arkansas is not the land of opportunity. All her life she has in DOver, population about 30k. Average median income household about 65k

Green forest- 2700 for population. 23k average household income!

Also, a quick google search shows a rather high molar concentration of religious cults, sects, and movements. Baptist in particular. And she wants to pursue a more intensive writing career, I just don't this this as the place to start. Nevermind the scholarships she had lined up here for college, like 30 or 40k

Poor girl, she's an emotional mess from her upbringing, making her extremely vulnerable to "attractive" offers. Oh well, someday she'll grow up and learn her lesson. Same one you're picking up, watch out for NO.1 first! No one is responsible for you but you. Thank you for sharing your experiences.

This might sound cold and callus but, we play the hand we're dealt combined with the cards we take. She knew the dcards she was dealt, hopefully the cards she draws play better. You've got to let go and let her play them and only hope no harm befalls her.

you know that could be off limit but...
maybe since you've been taking care of her for a long time, maybe this is just a cry for help.
think about it, why did she had to tell you this?
maybe she knew you'd rescue her as you have done in the past.
We all know way too many people who walk into "bad" situations on purpose because after all, bad attention, is still attention.

Here's a man that knows a thing or two about the real world. I second that.
Every guy I've known with a crazy girl friend has said, "She's the best lay I've had. A real freak in the sack."

Well, I wont be helping her. If I get a call in a few months, I will refer her the police or a homeless shelter. She has made her choices, I am moving on now .

A wise person told me "Bernard, you will either go down together or one of you go down". Well, it wont be me!

I've had first-hand up-close experience with someone close to me
suffering from schizophrenia. Your decision is the wisest for both
of you. This is nothing for a non-professional to undertake.

Yeah, she might be a bit unhinged. Basically, she told you because she wanted to get caught. Sounds like what Dr. Drew would call a chaotic relationship, which can be quite intoxicating. But they ain't good for you. Moving on is the healthy choice.

My version of the advice you quote, which I learned the hard way: "If someone is going down the toilet, only an idiot jumps in after them."

She did sort of get caught. Remember by now she is 18, so she CAN go. She dropped out of school, smart eh?
When I say get caught, I mean her parents found out by that teacher who notified the police. I have no idea where she is now.
