i'm 18 and i've already drank enough booze to be bored of it and hardly ever drink. Now it's maybe >6 times a year.
I understand you completly, I cant stand drunk people.
"the bus came by and I got on, that's when it all began...there was Cowboy Neal at the wheel of a bus to never-ever land."
I could tell you horror stories about what alcohol
did to me and some of my 'freinds'.....but thats what yer
Mom is for. If you keep the attitude you have now you
are going to be soooooooo much further ahead of your
boozer friends in all 'Life' related stuff........Im almost 50(and sober)
and I dont look at these episodes as 'good times of my yoof' or any
such nonsense...I wish I never lived them. The 'friends' I had
when I was 'having good times' really werent friends.....
OK, OK, now I sound like your Mom.....Stay sane,
Drink Coffee !!
The type of drunk matters a whole lot. I get silly but I don't do things like scream and bang on doors - though I had a friend who did. Stopped hanging out because of that. I have a friend who likes to fit a pint in her shirt and drink out of it - that's more my style
I also can have a few drinks, not be drunk and have a good time. Or not have any drinks and have a good time. My friends are the same way which is why we get along!
I agree with Air that the type of drunk matters a lot. Obnoxious drunks are no fun, and drinking at parties full of random people you don't know (and don't particularly care to know) isn't likely to be fun either. Speaking for myself, the only time I find it fun to drink is when I'm with people I know and like. Anyway, sorry to hear about your guests. Hope they return and pass out quietly
Sounds like you are showing signs of growing up. That can be a good thing, just don't do it too fast.
"I used to think that people that didn't drink were really uppity and full of themselves, but now I think I am turning into one of those people."
Drinking pitchers of beer with some friends at a bar/club, one friend gets up, goes outside, pukes by the side of the building, then comes back and drinks some more! That was about 30 years ago, and about the time I decided getting drunk was not for me. You would think praying to the great, white, porcelain, god several times before that would have done the trick, but I'm a slow learner.
As it is now, I have a beer or mixed drink about once per week, which suits me fine. I think I quit caring what other people think, when I became a parent about 20 years ago. I'm the one who has to account for my actions, "And that's all I have to say about that."
Drinking and getting drunk rules, you're obviously not cool. I'm going to make a point of not reading any more of your threads so your un-coolness doen't rub of on me and effect my coolness.

I love me some alcohol. Like any of my vices, I love it in moderation. I smoke (tobacco pipe and the rare cigar) probably about once every other month and love it in its moderation.
I drink probably once a week or so. Occasionally I'll aim to work up a good buzz, but usually it's just to enjoy a good drink or two or to support my karaoke bar of the night.
I did get drunk once. So terribly drunk. I was just the same as I am every day, but louder and more prone to random outbursts of song (perhaps it's because I was drinking with a friend who's a choir geek...and I miss being around choir geeks!). It was fun, but not as much fun as being sober.
Taerom, I'm just trying to say that you have it right. Do what works for you.
There's that stage that everyone has to go through in life. I did enough drinking & getting drunk while in high-school that I don't need to get like that again. However, I do understand that some people never get through that phase and are stuck in it the rest of their life. There's really nothing I can do to change them. In which case, I don't need them in my life.... simple as that. Plenty of others out there who I click with in more ways.
I spent the weekend with a bunch of friends, no beer no drugs nothing. We all had a great time watching silly movies, playing chess and other games. I don't drink and i do not plan on drinking in the future.Originally Posted by Taerom

Sounds like you are starting to see that getting wasted is not all it's cracked up to be. Also sounds like you are maturing a lot while your friends are still lost in their youth.
Sooner than they think, they will find themselves in their mid-forties, balding, with fat bellies and wonder why they work so hard 60 hours a week to support their wife and two kids...never having money for a decent vacation or a nice bicycle! Don't be that guy!! Hahaha!
Just Do It..
My son told me last year, about one of his roommates staggering back to their room. He ultimately knocked his own laptop off the desk, then puked on it. That was just one of several similar incidents. He has since washed out and joined the Marines. Guess Kerry was right!
Freinds n' booze n' a dark smokey bar = awsome.
