Just a public service announcement - now with "What would you like to see?" poll.

All bike related posts will be put in their proper forum, so please when creating a cycling related topic, please put them in the correct forum. After all, foo is off topic.

^^ because there are times when we have shared bicycle related things with our freinds here in FOO that would either be ignored or simply receive negative or sarcastic remarks in general cycling, road forums etc... It doesn't happen that frequently anyway. But I recently restored/rebuilt a bike. I posted it here in Foo because the people in here know me well and were interested in looking at the project. Last summer I posted pictures on the new TT bike I built in Road forums and in here at the same time. the thread in RF only had like 10 views and a few negative comments. The thread in Foo was pages long with a lot of foosters replying etc.... it eventually morphed into soemthing off the cyclling topic anyway as most threads in foo do. So I don't see why the sudden need to "tighten things up". It's still a "bike" website even if a few things cycling related pop up in the lounge from time to time. Just my two cents. I guess we'll see how it goes.

Just make any thread foo related by posting a bike and asking what movie it reminds you of.

I totally understand what you're saying here. You get attached to people and sometimes even though a topic might be more appropriately placed in another forum, you want to share with certain people. I get ya.

I want to hear when my friends had a great century
My last race was a flop, a foo member asked me to post a race report, it got tranfered to triathlons, noone ever posted, only the foo members gave me support.
you want me to post in road cycling when I drop 3 guys on the road who tried to push me on the road so that I wouldnt succeed?
I doubt ill get support in there when half of them have the same mentallity as the male group who told me not to bother riding with them cause I would get drop
this is too bad.... we have a good supportive friendship in here...

Good call. Forums like General Cycling have gone kaput with all of the cycling related stuff landing here.

Yeah, I actually agree with what the others are saying. I ride a fixed gear, but I don't really post there often. When I read what some of them posted about me after I posted a thread in Foo, I wasn't really impressed. Not too excited about the overall attitude, really. I like sharing with the Foosters, they are a nice, happy bunch.

I was thinking of you too when I posted my opinion, it was great to see the support you got when you were choosing colors for your fixie, I would of never been part of this had it been in the fixie threads..
maybe we can open a thread that could we go all go into when we want to talk among friends about our bike related subjets? I mean just one thread where we know we'd find advice and support among friends?

I like this idea. Maybe it could be a sticky called "Bicycle Related Foo" or something like that. I just don't think we need to be that rigid with things. It's not the U.S. Treasury...it's a bicycling forums website.

Here's what is currently being discussed as I know it:

If a Bike related thread is posted here in Foo, we'll likely move it into the bike specific section it fits. However, we will leave the redirect in Foo so that all the Foo rats can see and go over to the thread.

If you start a thread that you want people in Foo to see, but don't want it ending up in a particular bike related section here's my suggestion: Start your thread in Foo, and immediately PM or report the thread asking that it be placed in a specific bike forum that is less likely to have negative remarks tacked to it. Such as General Cycling. Ask nicely, and the mods will be happy to assist to find the best for everyone.

We also hope to be taking some steps to, um, smooth the rough edges, in some of the other forums.

Cuda thanks for the reply....

O.K. That's one way of looking at it. Can the idea of having just one thread that stays in Foo and is sticky for the purpose of bicycle related stuff be brought up at least? Why the sudden change of direction in FOO threads. I feel we have the fewest issues in this part of BF. I didn't say none....just fewest.

One of the foo members was just taking some shots/negative comments over in Road cycling recently and occasionally someone pops into Foo and makes some remarks about the foo regualrs, but generally, were a good bunch that hang out in here. I guess some of this just doesn't make sense to me is all. If it ain't broke don't fix it. I'm all for "smoothing out the roughness that exists in some other parts of BF and even from time to time when people get a little out of hand in Foo for sure. I guess I don;t understand the gola of mods right now.

Agreed, the other day I posted a ride report on my bike that I'm not going to ride much anymore in foo. I got all kinds of great responses in the first 20 minutes. It then got moved to mtbing where not a single person posted in it and it died.

I'll bring up the idea for you cycle17. And anyone else who have constructive suggestions keep them coming. We appriciate ideas from the community.

As far as all the Mods in Foo, it's nothing relating to Foo itself as far as I know. And the main reasoning behind moving bike threads out of foo, it boils down to this: This is 'BikeForums' and Foo is 'off topic chat'. So if bike stuff is on topic for a bike forum, then it's not off topic. Trust me, I've spent far more time else where on mod duties than in here in my short few days so far.

Does it help if in the subject line we put something like, "Hey Foosters! Check out my [insert bike name or cycling related topic here]!"
