Best way to ask a girl out via email

Hey all - I can probably handle this on my own but thought it might make for a fun topic for FOO. I found a really cute girl that I think (but not 100% sure) has been flirting with me. For the record I'm as obtuse as a brick when it comes to picking up on hints from women so if I think I'm picking up on something its probably fairly obvious to 99% of the rest of the population. Because of logistics I think email is perhaps the best/only option (cube farm and a phone call could be subjected to an enormous amount of hecking/razzing from peers, esp. if it goes south...). How would you approach it? Hmmm, I've been going over the "worst lines" thread for inspiration but I don't know about that.....

Well, since you've sunk to asking her by email instead of sauntering over to her cube in person, I'd say, start off with that^. There's no way she isn't yours after that.

Link her to this thread first, then tell her you're having trouble getting dates, and you swear you won't talk too much about dungeons and dragons if she goes out with you.

Umm... this wouldn't happen to be following up from the SoCal holiday party, would it?

Send her an email where she has to check one of two boxes:

q: Would you like to go out with me?

Yes

No

To which she will add the 'Maybe' option and check that one.

Do you use outlook or something like it at work? You could send her one of those "meeting invitation" thingys my bosses are always sending. You know, the ones you can accept or decline. You set the date and time and all she has to do is click the check mark. Make the email all businessy and stuff. Sweet. You can thank me later.

Well just ask her out for dinner, say what you feel about her and it just might work.

Dude, that touchy feely crap doesn't work on girls. They say it does, but it doesn't. They say they just want a sensitive, nice, honest guy but they don't. Just look at the guys that get all the girls. Nope, unless you already did something to make her like you (it sounds like you may have) you're gonna have to do better than just saying "I like you, wanna get some dinner" if you want to really make an impression. On the other hand, getting a girl to go out on a first date isn't all that hard so pretty much anything you do ought to work.

That's a good one. Couple that with promising not to talk about D&D and you have a winner.

I wouldn't do it via email.

But then maybe it's me. I have this thing about email being substituted for vocal conversation. But here I am posting by typing.....*sigh*.

Oh nevermind.

Wowsers - lot of folks jumping on this one in a hurry. Arrow white shirt eh? Hmmm - I'll give it a try.

Pheard - but your mom seemed to like talking about dungeons and dragons?..... (back at ya gawd, I feel like I'm 12 again with the "your mom" put downs. I'm clearly regressing..)

Jschen - no, but if I lived in SoCal I'd be elf chasin' for sure. Of course they look like they're pretty quick... Might be hard to catch. (lets see if I can embarass myself further )

Gear Jammer - I'm probably going to just take your approach.

uhmmm - well she does, a few buildings over. Not in my building. Which is part of the logistics. Of course I'm not planning on being here much longer. Plans are in the works already regarding that....

LOL!

reminds me of a story a buddy of mine told me.

In college there was a pay phone within sight of their dorm room. So they got the number for the phone and used to call it when they saw a hot girl approaching(wish I'd thought of that in college). His redneck buddy wanted to take a turn. He asked the girl if she liked peanut butter(wtf right?). When she said yes he said something like whats up above. They somehow ended up dating for several months from that. Go figure....

Yes, I know a guy who gets success with the "nice shoes, wanna f--k" line somewhat regularly.....thing is the guy sounds so.....metro....doing it that it's more comical than offensive.

Hius best pick up line though is talking like a little kid and asking if she wants to see a movie at his place and they can cuddle and be evil, but only if you want to.....or something like that. It's so funny I can't hear it to this day without spraying whatever I'm drinking out of my nose.

Ravenmore: Don't use this line... "OMFG U = 1337 |-|@\/\/7, I R 73|-| |-|@r|). 8@|\|6 |\/|3 plz!!!!!!!!!!two!!!"

....it's like dehydrated water, it just doesn't work
