it's a magnetic trainer. It's not that loud. I'm upstairs, but jesus ****ing christ if I heard someone running on their treadmill at 8:00pm I wouldn't give a ****. You live in a ****ing apartment, you have to learn to deal, or I'm going to really make your life hell.

If it's not "quiet time" and you're not beating on the floor with a sledge hammer I say go for it. I live in a downstairs apartment and while I don't enjoy when the apartment above me is making a lot of noise, I deal with it. Now, you try doing that at 12:30 on a weeknight, and we're gonna have words.

When you're living in an apartment you need to just deal with the noise. Tell them to STFU! Crank some Pantera next time you ride it.

Get carpeting or an foam exercise mat to attenuate the noise transmitted and ride your heart out. If the guy still comes up to complain, tell him to eff off.

Well, since the title of the thread wasn't specific, I'm going to add my own rant/whine/***** in here. Just went to change the ink tanks on my printer and the damn yellow one wouldn't fit. I thought they put the wrong one in the box, but NOOOOO.... stupid me grabbed 3 of the right part number and one wrong one. Someone must have put this one back on the wrong hook. My own stupid fault for not noticing it but damn it's aggravating!

You may be able to get a mat or something to go underneath the trainer, absorbing some of the vibrations a bit.

Sorry dude....I once had an old neighbor that fussy too.

I just got a new dog at the time and worked night shift. So I put him up in the newpaper covered bathroom and put a radio on VERY SOFT just so he had some noise.

I got a nasty gram in the morning about how she couldn't sleep because of my loud radio.

It was so low, with the bathroom door closed as it was, I couldn't hear more than about 5 feet away from the door. She claimed to hear it through the bathroom door, house door, her house door and bedroom door so loudly that she couldn't sleep.

Check the major cycling vendors online. I know what you are talking about, I saw that mat on one of those websites.

You can get those mats anywhere. Sometimes they're called yoga or pilates mats which are light and thin and not as absorbent. Just get something cheap. If he still complains, plant some drugs in his apt. and call the cops.

You need a sheet of rubber with a sheet of viscoelastic foam on top followed by a sheet of hard aluminium. This effectively isolates both the low and high frequency conductive noise transfer. We made some of this stuff at work for our motor mounts.
Go to mcmaster for some real industrial strength stuff.

It'll be pretty funny if you got em ear plugs for christmas.

Ear plugs would solve the problem too.

I've got the perfect solution to your problem.
Order up some hard core porn, crank the bass and let the fun begin.
Do it every night at 8:00pm
when they finally approach you about it tell them that since you can't ride your triner you've decided to take in some cultural films.
See how fast they forget about the trainer noise.

nah, I decided to be passive aggressive about it and just play loud music and walk on my heels the rest of the night. I'm going to spin again when I get home from work. I'll concede to winding it down earlier, but I paid for the trainer, and god damn it, I'm going to use it. If he gets pissed at me training at ~5:30, I'm just going to yell "Get a bicycle, *****"

When in the middle of a room the trainer may be louder than near the wall. The floor vibrates more away from the wall and may have a big effect on the noise.

So put your speakers facing down in the middle of the room when you want to get revenge !

Well, he doesn't. For God sakes, you live in an apartment. At least two other people have dogs. What I need is a good sine wave generator for the PC to see how low my subwoofer will hold a note.

What you need is a good sound-reinforcement TL subwoofer (preferably with a 30ft TL tunnel), a Crown K2 amplifier and a 20-30hz bass sweep. Enjoy as the entire place is shaking something awful.
