oh what the...

There were supposed to be ice storms this weekend lasting a few days and trapping everyone inside. So I was going to run some errands today, get some food, supplies to build rollers to ride on in the garage, and some drano (spring cleaning!).

Storms showed up this morning. It was 60 and sunny yesterday, it's 18 and sleeting today. I love Oklahoma

I wish you would keep that $h&% to yourself! It hit here(SE KS) about 30 minutes ago. Sleeting like a big dog now. Gonna be fun driving home(SW MO) tonight.

We're talking 3-6 inches of rain in Indiana. Good thing it isn't snow! 1" Rain = 10" snow!

Yeah, this weekend's weather sucks, especially since my wife and I were going to go buy her a bike Saturday, and she was going to ride with me Sunday night.

Same story in Kansas. I was riding my bike outside in the 65 degree weather on Thursday, then on Friday, the high was 12 degrees.

We still haven't seen any ice in the Dallas area.

Well, except for on the front of the semi that passed us heading south on US75 this evening.

yesterday we got sleet. it coated almost everything but the roads. thankfully, they were just wet. the back half of my bike was sticking out of the garage so my 18 speed Trek 800 became a low range 3 speed for my commute to work last night. It spent most of the day outside today and right now it's got almost a almost 1/4 coat of ice. it looks like a candy coating but I doubt it tastes like an M&M.... the brakes and shifters still work so I'm not going to try to melt it before my commute tonight. I don't want it to re-freeze inside the cable housings. I'll let it thaw and dry in the hallway at work tonight and try to make a space in the garage when I get home in the morning.

I've seen what passes for road maintenance when there's ice in Dallas. Sprinkle some sand in the middle of intersections. If it wasn't so scary, I would have been laughing

We have had freezing rain on and off since Friday morning. I slipped on the ice last night landing flat on my butt. Fortunately, my friend was there to witness this and laughed hesterically.

We are expecting 3 to 8" of snow on top of the ice tonight. Anyone for bumperskiing?

bumperskiing is great!!! just make sure you use a car that is heavier than a Geo Metro. my brother decided to push the rear sideways when it was his turn and he ended up on the ground and I ended up putting the car in the ditch.

I do keep hearing tires spinning as cars start from the stoplight outside, but the streets are just wet, not icy. Of course, I'm in Downtown, and with all the underground crap they have, it'll have to get pretty damn cold for a long time for ice to appear on the roads.

With the amount of traffic on downtown roads, it should take a while for ice to form. Of course, now that I've said that, I'm sure I'll be awakened by the sounds of crashing cars.

I walk to work, so icy roads don't bother me at all. My wife, however, will probably work from home tomorrow, depending on road conditions.
