How do you get earbuds in your ear?

I picked up an iPod wannabe mp3 player on an auction site to listen to when I'm walking. It came with earbuds. My problem is I can't get them to stay in my ears. How do you get them in? Do they come in different sizes. Are my earbuds too big? Are my ears too small?

First thing that came to mind was epoxy when I read the thread title. But gorilla glue works. Gorilla glue does expand quite a bit when it dries however.

Time to add that one to the one liner thread, Siu. Very good.

Yes ears and ear buds come in all sizes. It may help to pull up on the ear as you try to seat it. If you can't get these to fit, I can recommend some good form fitting type buds for you or you could check out head-fi.org

    That durn't work.

To quote Nanny Ogg, "That durn't work."

The ones that come with the player are good if you're sitting perfectly still on a vibration-absorbing surface and not breathing.

You'll have to go get a "sports" earphones that wrap around your ear. So far I haven't found any I really like; there's a blue set that sound really faint (either they don't fit right or they're awfully weak), and the Sony S2s have good sound but mine stop working if you sweat in them.

Sorry...gross...but I think we here at Foo are close enough for me to share that.

There's lots of buds out there that work really well even with microphonics. Those buds that do produce microphonics usually have some method to reduce it. Once we know how much he wants to spend, we can find some.

Ron might also consider putting them in the ear in a non-conventional way. Sometimes if you put them perpendicular to the ear with the speakers facing forward they work even better than the conventional way.

I won't use them or any other earphones. I've damaged my hearing enough shooting guns, and I don't need to further the problem. The thing about ear phones is, if you can hear them clearly in anything by a silent enviornment, they are causing damage.

Not necessarily. It depends on the bud. The trade off is, the better the seal the more microphonics.

seems that according to this statement, anything you hear ever will damage your hearing.

You folks are getting it all wrong; it's not glue he needs. It's LUBE!!! The buds aren't inserted deep enough and that's why they're falling out. Rub some KY or water-based lube of your choice on the buds. Stick them in your ear with the wire nub facing forwards. Press in and back, then rotate the nub downwards (about 90-degrees).
