I am worried that what I worry about won't happen, and what I don't worry about will. Worry just seems so futile - and I worry that I am soon going to be Alfred E. Neuman...

I worry about my tire blowing out on a long ride again, because now, on top of it being a biatch to get the tire off and back on that rim, my right thumb is fubar'ed. There'd be no way I could fix it on the road, and I'd have to walk home, unless I can actually find someone who can come get me. And being more than four miles, or an hour's walk, out...well, friends, that bites.

Day-um. I just need to go ahead and get a modern roadbike.

There are other things on my mind that keep me awake at night, but those are personal.

What's on your mind, AJC? What do you worry about?

What kinda rims/tires are you on? Sounds like you need to get a looser fit. I went through a pair of tires on my last road bike that were an EXTREMELY tight fit (a good half-hour to get them off/on in the comfort of my own home, much less on the road.) I used to worry about flats in them as well. Walking even half a mile home sucks when you've got road shoes on.

Then again, when I got rid of that bike, I was daily-riding tubulars on my Cervelo. So I guess I'm dumb.

Worried about rather a lot of things recently.

Final year of a Maths degree, have a report due in shortly, find the topic particularly dull, don't know anywhere near enough background on the subject and written work is my weak spot anyway. Was already accepting that my report would be below the required standard, find out today that I'd underestimated just what standard they were expecting. Great.

Also have just finished another Maths unit, basically understand none of the work we've done in it over the last four months. Again have no motivation for it since it turned out to be much more pure than I'd anticipated.

So that's at least 2 units out of 6 that I'm liable to screw up completely. 1 unit has been pretty good, about to start the next three.

Alongside that (and I hope indirectly caused by it) I've been struggling seriously with maintaining a positive mood whenever I go out and socialise with friends. Half way through an evening I'm unable interact in any kind of fun way and end up going home. Which then just gets me more depressed.

Anyway, my apologies, I suspect that was a little more than was required!

I'm not much of a worrier but I do have concerns that I'll be dirt poor when I'm old. I chose to work in mental health (primarily with mentally ill homeless people) and knew I'd never make much money...but I really don't want to end up like my clients.

Worry means you care about something or someone. Definitely not a waste of anything.

Yeah, everything can be going great and I find myself worrying that it's getting ready to hit the fan. Whatever it is. Nothing real to worry about, just this dark feeling. Now, since I worry so much about the imagined give me something real to worry about and I'm glad I keep my hair too short to pull out.

Meh. Worry is a poor way of expressing care for someone. That's like saying knee injury is a sign that you're a biker. You can be a biker, yet take steps to prevent knee injury. I was joking in my earlier post, but honestly - there are some things in life we *can* influence, and others we *can't.* If you CAN influence something, do it. If you can't, don't worry about it, since there's nothing you can do.

My point: Worry is a choice.

Weinmann 6x630, currently using Bontrager Select B 27 x 1 1/8 tires. But I assure you that a 27" modern tire is just an eensy bit too small. My current beater is an '84 Schwinn LeTour, BTW. If anyone knows a more appropriate tire for this old rim, lemme know....

What kind of roadbike did you have last? And what kind of rims/tires were you on?
