Well, it's a common term. I used to issue and receive rain checks all the time.

It's female meta-messaging and indirect communications. They're saying "no" without saying it outright to your face. They're also keeping their options open so they're saying "No, not right now..." because they're looking for the BBD. So the message really is "No, not right now unless I get a BBD". Whether that better offer comes from someone else or you doesn't really matter to them, they'll go for it. In these cases, it's up to you to make a BBD offer yourself.

However, this wouldn't be a consideration if you've set up all the conditions optimally on the 1st date. They should be the one asking to go out on 2nd-date with you...

Remember, don't give away too much, be mysterious, build intrigue and desire... pull it away and make them beg for more...

Well girl number two actually took the time to reschedule and give you a time. That shows she probably is interested in meeting up with you.

Because it's an utterly passive and non-committal term. People use it because they're not comfortable with the idea of being up-front. So instead of dealing directly with the situation they keep putting it off until the issue is forced by someone else or the other party simply writes them off. People who do that are annoying and a waste of time. They've done you a favor. Give #2 another shot since she seems to be the only one not dicking you around.

Well obviously #1 is out of the question. #2 may be busy and hasn't had the time to get back to you. Call her up, see when she's available. You'll shortly know if she really is interested or not.

She texted you to cancel a date? I personally would have considered it a wash right then and there.

What she said. It's not worth your time. They just don't want to be mean...except for MAYBE #2.

On a related note, how's your personal hygiene?

This is bizarre. I keep getting rain checks from girls I am dating. The REALLY weird part is they all 3 use that term -- "rain check." The last three girls I have gone out with recently have given me rain checks at one point or another after the first date.

The first girl cancelled right before the holidays. I didn't have a strong vibe about, so I left the ball in her court and never heard back. I since wrote her off.

The second girl I have a pretty good initial feeling about, and she is my age. She has a very busy job type and asked me for a raincheck for dinner we were supposed to have tonite. She was apologetic and actually made a point to tell me what day she WOULD be available to reschedule, and we have plans for that day.

The third girl I met about the same time as the second girl. She told me she wasnt available this weekend, except sunday, so we planned to have brunch. When girl 2 cancelled, I set the lunch date with girl 3. then today girl 3 texted me about having a headache, but claims she is genuinely interested in getting together again. however, she didnt offer a make-up day. i am close to writing her off.

but the strangest, weirdest thing is that EVERY chick uses the same damn terminology. rain check. is there a dating book that all 3 girls must be reading that advises girls to offer rainchecks for some unknown strategy? it just seems really weird. ive been dating long enough not to get upset if the girl doesnt think we are a good match and does not express further interest.

but i am puzzled about the use of the term rain check, and why 3 girls in a row have done this.

any clues? if 1 and 3 are just not that into me, then so be it -- but they all 3 claim they are interested.
That is messed up, time to go searching for a 4th lady. do not give up hope man, confidence will ride you out of this storm.

Whenever a girl doesn't hang out with you because she has "too much to do" or "not enough money" that is code for "you're not worth my time" or "you're not worth my money" and in either case, that means you need to move on. Ditto on the headache, take some Excedrin!!

I'll have to give you a raincheck on my reply to the OP, the game is on.

He's young, he's desperate, the fact that she texted him to begin with means there's a chance.

What are the chances?
One in a million
So you're saying there's a chance...

If by reading the same book you mean "feeling each other up" then I totally agree, that's the same image I have in my head.

The key word that you use yourself in your post is "girls"

Find some grownups to associate with.
