Siu and I are arguing over which bike is cooler

Ok, so we thought that if we get roadies, we'll get twin bikes. But we both like different colors. I like the silver one, and she likes the puky celeste puky green one. Vote foosters. Vote on the color. Also she wants to get a different groupo, but I think it isn't worth 700 dollars more.

Celeste is classic Bianchi and is hard to beat. It took years for me to enjoy that color, now I love it...

I think Celeste is at its best on a classic thin tube steel frame. I am less fond of it on modern over sized tubing. Too much of a good thing...

Well, the green isn't fugly, I just like the look of the silver better in this case. Perhaps if the accents of celeste on the silver were more prominent...

105, better wheels, and it's Celeste. Respek.

[edit] Though I'd drop the celeste saddle and handlebar tape. That's a little much.

I'm sorry Pheard, but your so wrong on this one.

I don't know much about roadie bikes but I can tell you the 105 groupo is better by leaps. Plus it just looks better.

+1. Some things simply have to be a certain color. Ferrarris must be red to be appropriate. Hearses need to be black, at least in America when used for non-Asian guests of honor. And Bianchis have to be celeste.

Just so we're clear, Pheard, I'm with you on the general esthetics of the puke green that Bianchi calls "celeste." On anything else, I'd say "burn it." But there is simply too much history behind celeste-colored Bianchis for them to be approrpiately attired in any other color. Fausto Coppi rode celeste Bianchis. Modern-day Bianchi riders should do no less.

There is also some speculation that the "Celeste" color was the result of surplus military paint.
What I read somewhere is that Bianchi wanted to do something to make their bikes stand out in a race. The time was early-1900s, and all bikes were black. However they picked Celeste, it got picked, and no other manufacturer (including today) can use it. I'm not sure on the enforcement, but that's how I understand it....
