Can you run 2 miles in 10 minutes?

We all know Michigander can, but can you?

Fastest one mile time for me was 5:45 during track practice a few years ago. If I had actually been racing, I probably could've gotten into the low 5:00's. Fastest time in a 5k was 18:48. Again, I think I could've improved, but it was one of the last races of the season. There's no way I could run 2 miles in 10 minutes in my current physical shape, I would need a lot of working out...

Ok people, brag about your running skillz...how fast can you run?

on a good day 2 miles would take me 14 minutes ( on a good day)
these days ( after injury) it's more like 16 minutes

I think last time I was tested, in high school, it was a mile run, got up to about 16-17 minutes before the teacher gave up.

In HS, I ran 110 and 220 sprints and hurdles. At one meet, I was asked by the coach to run the 440 sprint when one of the other gals couldn't do it. My first and only time, I ran it in 60.9 seconds. Then I puked.

Ran a bit for fun in college, but never timed it. Don't run anymore. My knees informed me they'll go on strike if I do. Something about too much abuse while running hurdles all those years ago.

[Edit: just remembered that when I was in AFROTC, I did have to do a timed "fun run." I think the first such run was 1.5 miles in 14:20 or less for the women. I managed to do it, in spite of being a 1.5-pack-a-day smoker at the time!]

I ran a 5:40 mile before. I am sure on the 2nd mile I dropped to 6:30. So 12:00 for me.

I'm a high school track and cross country runner(well more track than cross country) and no I could not run 2 miles in 10 miles. My best miles is 4:32 and my best 5k on trails is 17:08. There are kids on my team who could come a lot closer than me and there are two kids at another school we race against from Ethiopa who run in the low 15 minutes for 5k and yeah they could but I never will be able to. Sad.

My best mile was 4:47 in high school. When I was 16. Before I killed my knees or got flabby. I did it because I was "the nerdy kid" and I wanted to give a big ol' F-U to the gym teacher. I've never done two at a stretch but I'm absolutely sure I wouldn't have been able to keep that up. Nowadays I'd pull a Homer Simpson and have a heart attack after half a block .

I think with a bit of training, I'd be back around 6 minutes for a single mile and 13 minutes for two miles. I doubt I could pull off a 5 minute mile, much less two of them back to back.

All this was 30 years and 50 pounds ago. No way I could come close today.

100 yards 10.21
220 yards 23.4
440 yards 51.2
880 yards 2:00.4 (I would have killed to go .5 faster back then)
1 mile 4:37
2 miles 10:04

I'd be happy to run a 7:00 mile now (and that's at least a minute faster than I could do if I went out now).

Nope! I think eight and change was my best ever. I was not built for speed. You know I think I'll take a run when I get someof this damn weight off just to see.

I think we had to do two miles in 12 minutes in high school for football, but I will not swear to that. To answer your question, no I do no think I ever could.

My knees don't tolerate excessive running or walking after working in a warehouse for the past 7+ years. I can walk at work all day long but if I try to take it up a notch and run/jog for a long amount of time, I get some killer knee issues. I walked a 10k awhile back and was hurting for weeks after.

The only way I could cover 2 miles at that pace is if I was trying to outrun a lynch mob!

That's pretty freaking fast. My best mile time in HS was around 5:20. Of course, I was more of a 200/400 guy. My wheels don't allow much running any more (hence the interest in cycling). We had to do a 5k for our PFT in NROTC back in the day. I think I covered that in about 21min.

Not a chance in the world. I run about a 7 minute mile. Two would probably take me about 16 or 18 minutes. I hate running.

I am, however, planning on assimilating a new host body...

I remember running a ~7 minute mile in middle school, but I haven't timed anything since. I prefer sprinting, but I don't time that either.
