iPod Question

Ok... I got an 80 gig iPod video from Christmas, works perfect... I have a wall plug with the USB on it so I can plug in the iPod and charge and use it on power vs. the battery.

And then in Jan I buy a 8 gig nano(2G) and it seems to work normal but when I plug it into the wall adapter, I get the battery w/ charging bolt and it flashes 2-3 times then disappears and it goes back to using the battery as if it was never plugged in...

Now if I hook it up to a PC/Mac, it charges/Syncs fine...

HELP!!! Oh BTW, I am using both apple cables from both of my iPods

1: I wonder if the wattage needed by the Nano's battery charger is more than what the power supply is providing, (even though its rated correctly), that it is hampering battery charging.

2: As a temporary measure, you can buy a powered USB 2.0 hub (make sure its self-powered, where it plugs into an outlet, as opposed to bus powered which gets power from the upstream USB), and use the hub as a power source to charge your Nano until you get the charger problem fixed.

They sell a docking station to charge the Nano. I am not certain the wall adaptor you have works for the Nano as well.

Its actually generic and was used for an iPaq PDA I have and I use it on my 80gig iPod and it works great... I dont see how the Nano could be different or need more power than the 80 gig since it has more moving parts than the nano

Reason I like this solution is so I can charge/use it in my car with just the cable and im not dealing with a dock or some other device

Ok what I use sounds ghetto but it works.... I bought a AC to 12v cig lighter adapter when I broke my home charger for my cell phone that allows me to use a car charger in the house.

I have a Belkin plug that plugs into this or a car with a USB on the back thats used for charging a USB device and puts out exactly the same power as a PC/Mac USB port. I use this so I dont have to go pay $30+ for the pretty apple/3rd party version of the same thing.

so what I do then is just plug the white charge/sync cable that apple gives you into the bottom of the iPod and then the USB plug into the power supply and it charges/powers it in my car, at my desk at work, etc while I listen to it... but the Nano just doesn't seem to wanna work
