^^^ I've never heard it live!!! Thanx...I wore out a copy of Flat As A Pancake on vinyl. Great stuff...

Just listened to "How Many More Times" ---Led Zepp from their first. Whew...heavy is the only word for it.

Time to lighten up a bit..."Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is?" ---Chicago...always puts a smile on my face.

I think Stones disco is my favorite of the bunch. Emotional Rescue is one of my favorite albums of that era.

i gotta protest bowie being included in the disco sukfest. he released his "stinker" album
young americans in 1975 (although it did have "win," "young americans" and "fame.")
his string of 5 albums (stationtostation, low, heroes, lodger & scary monsters)in the late 70's
to the early eighties do not suck. methinx his particular
sellout started with the new wavey let's dance (love "cat people" w/ stevie ray on guitar tho)
in 1983 and continued for most of that decade and the next. did really really enjoy 2002's
heathen though-good stuff!

yeah, rod the mod is the worst sellout during that disco era and has arguably the most talent of all those mentioned.

the stones, the stones, the stones. disliked black and blue when it came out. still don't like it.
somewhat disliked some girls when it came out but it has (largely) aged well-8/10. emotional rescue
is/was decent & danceable fun but generally not "classic." 7/10. tattoo you-dump "neighbors"
and it's fantastic. good mix of ballads & rockers and their last classic album-9/10. except for
the occasional song, the stones have ceased to be an original, artistic force. ditto for elton.
doesn't mean i wouldn't see any of these acts 'cause i would but it wouldn't be for the
material released in the last 20+ years.

it would be nice if rod, the stones & elton pulled a bob dylan and came back with at least one
good, solid album after the glory daze. i'm not holding my breath.

I have!! It's been a really long time ago...I shall release Bowie as your accessment is more accurate. "Let's Dance" was what I was thinking of, and yeah it was a little later than I thought. I shall replace him with arguably the creators of my hell on earth...The Bee Gees. How do you go from "Lonely Days" to "Saturday Night Fever"??

Now listening to "War Pigs"---Black Sabbath from Paranoid. (trying to grind the disco out of my brain)

Now listening to "Catfish Blues"---Jimi Hendrix from Soundtrack From The Motion Picture

I had the rare privalige to hear the original version by Son Thomas in the late eighties. It was in a bar called Scrooges...Jacksons version of an english pub only with better food. Lots of dark oak paneling, fox hunting paintings and wreaking of atmosphere...small though. As with all great places it became too crowded and started sucking but I digress. He sat on a stool and played for hours...only taking small breaks to drink ice water and suck sliced lemons. (and no, it wasn't tequilla in the glass) Sadly most people wern't even paying attention to him, so we had a table within 5 feet of him...raw talent at its finest. I went through a huge blues phase back then and made the annual pilgramige to the Delta Blues Festival in Greenville for 5 or 6 years. Good times... (too dangerous now, and it's not really even a true blues festival anymore.) I'm third from the left in the dark red shirt and hot pants.

yes, but old metal may bring on greater "worser" problems than disco. apply judiciously my brother.

am i the only one who hears old sabbath these daze and has scenes from "the osbournes" and
ozzy's various commercials pop into their head?? has kinda ruined sabbath for me. pretty
much haveta turn to deep purple for an old metal fix...not that it sux, the pre-1975 stuff is
golden.

Yeah, the early stuff is all I can tolerate as well. Fortunately, I watched about 5 minutes of the osbournes and realized straight away that it wasn't for me. So no, I don't invision ozzy staggering and slurring when I put it on...a blessing to be sure.

Now listening to "I Robot"---The Alan Parsons Project...title track from the album
