There are those bands that age like fine wine, and others that don't. Youtube has me expecting the latter tomorrow.

At least it was cheap.

I can now say with certainty that yep, Deborah Harry's voice has gone the way of Geddy Lee's voice, in that it's pretty much toast, and in her case I bet a lot of it has to do with her hearing problems. The rest of the band still sounds really good though.

Yeah, but she's still one of the finest nearly-septegarians I know.

The other being TINA.

my core interest in american pop is heavy on '70s fm rock, alt/indie low-fi (sebadoh, pavement, pixies) and psychedelic folk (will oldham, jana hunter, bill callahan), but i've been feelin' real retro lately. especially with bob seger. he sounds fresh to me. he reminds me of many a nick nolte character, especially the hero in steinbeck's 'cannery row.' the way he delivers his forlorn odes just sound so warm right now. his lyrics sound simple, but they feel both innocent and wise.

This ain't exactly music, but it's pretty fun stuff. I'm not 100% sure on this, but someone told me that at least one person from Firesign worked on A Child's Garden Of Grass, so I've always associated them together. Not counting that one, I have 15 Firesign Theatre albums, a sign of a truly warped mind.

Here's a recent thrift store score, a first pressing of Jimi Hendrix/The Cry Of Love, on good old crunchy vinyl. In case you're not familiar, RL is Robert Ludwig's initials, and he produced a lot of the best ever recordings, for a lot of top names. RL pressings are highly sought after. This one has a scary-looking scratch on side one, but otherwise both sides look new, and the scratched part is only visual, it plays perfectly, and sounds amazing. It's funny, discogs lists 1971 as the first release date, but my spine says 1970, LOL.

This one's a little more modern, Graham Nash & David Crosby/untitled from 1972, and mastered by George Piros, in the Precision studios. Good records need more flaps, LOL.

Pardon me, I must have been future-tripping there. Let's get back to 1970, with Jethro Tull/Benefit. No initials here, but 1A stampers on both sides.

OK, from the bicentennial year, '76, Paul McCartney & Wings/Wings Over America. First pressing, 3-album set, with custom labels & sleeves, & sides 3,4, & 6 have Wly in the wax, short for Wally Traugott (I think I spelled that right). I didn't really appreciate this stuff back then, so I owe this a good listen. Besides, I know I like a lot of it, from the radio.

From 1971, a first pressing of Cheech & Chong/untitled (their first album). I forgot how funny this was.
