    Who else is a '59er?

    Born in 1959 that is.

I know chipcom, Tom, and crtreedude are here with me. I think our "dad" from Maine might be there too. Who else?

    I'm a 46er!

That is, I've climbed all 46 high peaks in the Adirondacks. As far as age, I'm not nearly as geezerly as any of you fogies.

SaabFan - that is cool that you have bagged all the peaks. I wish I could do that - but it is a bit of a trip for me.

Are any of them "technical" climbs? I'd guess no, but...

You're not supposed to tell us that. You're supposed to say "I'm your big sister" - same goes for Stacey.

No, definitely not. At least, they don't *have* to be. The Adirondacks are pretty wimpy on the grand scheme of mountain ranges.

That said, I've done the highest (Marcy) several times in the winter - in several feet of snow, once with double-digit below zero windchill. (Which is a feat - if I do say so myself.)

Oh, and for all the true 59ers, I give you Born in the 50's, by The Police:

We were born, born in the fifties
    Born, born in the fifties
    Born, born in the fifties
    Born, born in the fifties

    My mother cried
    When president Kennedy died
She said it was the communists
    But I knew better

Would they drop the bomb on us
While we made love on the beach?
We were the class they couldn't teach
    'Cause we knew better

We were born, born in the fifties
    Born, born in the fifties
    Born, born in the fifties
    Born, born in the fifties

    They screamed
    When the Beatles sang
And they laughed when the King fell down the stairs
    Oh they should've known better
    Oh we hated our Aunts
Then we messed in our pants
Then we lost our faith and prayed to the TV
    Oh we should've known better

We were born, born in the fifties
    Born, born in the fifties
    Born, born in the fifties
    Born, born in the fifties

We freeze like statues on the pages of history
Living was never like this when we took all those G.C.E.'s
Oh, you opened the door for us
And then you turned to dust
    You don't understand us
    So don't reprimand us
    We're taking the future
    We don't need no teacher
    Born, born in the fifties
    Born, born in the fifties
    Born, born in the fifties
    Born, born in the fifties
    Born, born in the fifties
    Born, born in the fifties

Okay - just to show off how old we are. I remember when JFK was shot, I remember where I was and everything. I wasn't particularly old at the time - I remember mainly for the reaction of the people around me.

I also remember watching the moon landings - it is hard to discribe what that felt like.

Okay 59ers - what do you remember that will shock Pheard?
