I hate interviews.

about to get in the shower and head to an interview at a potential client. Ugh. I always get SO worried about it; whether I really know what they'll ask me. I always get nervous. I always worry I'm not going to do well. Sigh. Thanks.

You'll be fine. That fear is what will keep you honest and make you prepare. In my experience, it's when you *aren't* a bit afraid that you're most likely to screw it up.

fwiw probably 99.9% of us who go to interviews share the same anxiety. The best interview I ever had was the one that I screwed up in the first two minutes. I knew then that I did not want the job and was completely not interested. My nerves were completely on par and I totally took over the interview.

I also was not offered the job

Just think of it as not mattering whether or not you get the client. That way you don't have to worry about it, and the confidence will show through to them!

Stress is good, it motivates you to prepare better. Map out your thinking during the stress period, then put it in order on paper, and your preparation will be stellar! Prepare, relax a bit, then do well!

well I'm back. It went well -- it's an existing client, they have open spots and I might get assigned there (provided they want me). Anyhoo they didn't ask anything I was told to prepare for; I'm hoping that's a good thing. I also didn't get any question that made me flush with nervousness, and no huge curveball or asking me some esoteric academic thing.

I just hate the nervousness, the anxiety of trying to impress strangers and all that. Blech.

Thanks for the kind words, I am expecting them to want me, so I guess that's a good thing. (No, I'm not positive it's a project I want, but I'm learning this is part of being a Consultant -- I don't get to pick the job)

As long as you mentioned that you like wearing spandex, you're in.

Had a potential new client interview today - very pointed. At the end, the CEO told me that everything I said was what she said to one of her partners. I hope that's a good sign. But it doesn't mean either of us are right, but it goes to show how random these things could be. What you say in all sincerity may be perfect or it might be totally wrong thing for that person.

I'm still waiting for Ed McMahon to show up with a check.

Hope yours went well.

I had an interview yesterday too. Interviewing with a software company in Tampa. It was pretty brutal with giving me "problems" to code on paper. But I think I did well in the end.
