Flexible keyboard?

Has anybody here used one of those flexible/indestructible keyboards? Here is an example:

Seems to work well for a slow typist, you cannot get a normal typing speed on it.

My friend has one. They're pretty cool, and they work fine, but I don't like the feel of them. Maybe you'd get used to it, but they're just too weird for me.

The flexible keyboard used to be sold at Radio Shack. It is pretty nice, but I never liked its odd feel.

As for the cross MP3 player, (the real name is Saint B mp3-player), it is just a concept. By USB standards, it has issues from the start. The USB port is the wrong one... one doesn't put a type "A" connector on the "device" side of the USB, but uses either a mini USB connector, or a type "B" connector which is squarish. Or maybe even use a IEEE1394 4-pin connector, since in the past 3-4 years, PCs are sporting IEEE1394 as well as USB, so might as well take advantage of a bus with less overhead.

If I designed a MP3 player in that form factor, I'd have the earphones come out the top rather than the side. For interface, a number of MP3 players just allow for copying files to it like a drive, and once disconnected from the computer, will autoindex and be ready to play. I'd do the same as that, as well as offer PlaysForSure functionality [1].

[1]: PlaysForSure is a DRM format, but its better to have compatibility with it than not.

If you plan on doing any typing for a extended period, or at a even remotely speedy manner, don't buy it.

The problem with them is mostly an issue of tactile feedback...the keys are too spongy and squishy to feel right.

If you are looking for a durable keyboard, just get a tough full-size keyboard and then get a plastic keyboard cover like this one http://hooleon.com/miva/merchant.mvc...&Category_Code=

For a portable fullsized KB with a laptop, they're not bad. As others have mentioned, there are tactile issues. We have them at the store, they don't fly off the shelf, but we have sold a few.

Thanks all,
I won't be buying them. I think buying the 5 dollar keyboards is the way to go. My compaq keyboard is 6 years old, I can type as fast as I want, and I have a spare for when this one gets destroyed.

Does it explode if you load Black Sabbath in it?

+1 to the negative comments about the flexible keyboards. Tried one for several weeks, hated it the whole time.

Even after adjusting to it, it was a total pain. Like others mentioned, squishy and no feedback. It was pretty much impossible to get used to it - you never knew if a given keystroke was going to work, so you had to slow down and watch each letter pop up, else hit the key again. It's stupidly frustrating if you're a fast typer.
