Need to find the right color: Red Metalic

Calling on the power of Foo to give me some good suggestions. I'm looking for the right color to paint my newly aquired 86 Serotta Nova. I've 90% decided on one variation or another of a metallic red. But which one?

This is what I need form you all, ideas on what brand/model of car out there has the best metallic red on the road. What I'm looking for is a medium to dark metallic red, perhaps a burgundy or wine red.

So far my list includes:

06 or 07 Mustang Metallic Red (Redfire):

50th Anniversary Corvette Red:

Matador Red Metallic:

06 XLR

And "Blaze Red Crystal Pearlcoat" as seen on this Crossfire.

Jon,
Did you see the Candy Apple Red color in the Serotta site?

SuperDex - interesting pic of a color off a 60's Jeep. I'd be interested to see that on a vehicle in the sun.

Mariner - yes I've seen their Candy Apple Red. I'm going to be sending the frame to a local frame builder for paint and he can use just about any automotive color out there. I think I want something a little darker than a candy apple red.

"Blaze Red Crystal Pearlcoat" is the winner hands down.

I'd probably go for as close a match as possible to the classic mid-70's Gios Torino blue, myself, so that may disqualify me from an opinion. But, FWIW, of the options so far, I like the Mustang's red best, followed closely by the XLR's.

my 81 regal had a color similar to president red or tropical rose, and was somewhere in-between a metal flake and metallic.....looked so great. Might want to hit up a GM dealership to find an old paint swatch to check it out.

I liked the metallic burgundy that my parent's 2000 Chevy Impala had.

^ ^ ^ Me want! Me want!

Ok, moved the five contenders up to the original post. Removed the Nissan, added a Lexus. Many of them are pretty darn close and I'd probably be happy with any one of them.

David will be the one doing the paintjob. I emailed him yesterday saying that I would have a paint job coming his way soon. He can match pretty much any automotive color other than IMRON Fleet colors.

I think you should really look at actual Plymouth Barracuda colors. It would be cool to say it was Cuda Red or whatever.

^ ^ ^ Very simular to the Lexus red. I saw that too. That's a pretty good example shot of it. Right now trying to find a better example of the Caddy's 'Infared' color than that front on XLR.

Gunnar has a nice combo of a base layer of sterling silver and putting a solid color over it. This is orange over sterling silver. You can see the effect of the silver. Would look nice with red, too.
