I'm more of a network guy, but if you'll say what you need, I'd be happy to help if I know what to do.

What do you want to know. I use RA consistently in a protected network, I use both the push and invite depending on the user.

I'd be happy to remote desktop, but I don't get pro until I get a new PC, and that would be awhile.

i have a notebook(computer A) and a regular tower pc(computer B). remote desktop connection for incoming and outgoing connections works on computer A fine. computer B can connect to computer A but does not accept connections from A. here are screen shots from boths pcs.

when setting up RDC on A the settings window looks like this...

but when setting up RDC on B the settings window looks like this...

obviously there is a difference in the two but i can not figure out how to change it. both pcs are running windows xp with latest updates installed.

help!

Are they both behind the same firewall? Port 3389 needs to be open for RDP incoming connections.

The second one looks to be XP Home, but I've never actually touched that version of the OS to think of it.

Thats correct, box B is XP Home, which doesn't have the ability to accept standard Remote Desktop sessions.

You can send Remote Assistance invitations from your XP Home box, which gives similar functionality, but its not nearly as good as Remote Desktop.

Whenever I need remote access into an XP Home box, I usually set up VNC. It is similar to Remote Desktop, lets you log into the box remotely and do what you need to do. There are lots of VNC products out there, my favorite is UltraVNC.
