Every buy a Cyberpower computer?

Hi,
I am looking to buy a computer. But with the transition to DX10 most companies
are tacking big premiums on the DX10 cards to make a quick buck.

Cyberpower isn't.

But I don't know much about them. I would be getting a CoolerMaster Stacker case, and the fancy installation upgrade. It looks like a good deal, I get to pick name brand parts, pay alittle extra to get a proper build, and the whole thing gets done on budget.

If they are good...

Why do you want DX10? You do know that there are no cards that work PROPERLY with DX10 yet, right?

And the numerous soundcard issues and whatnot.

I say hold off for a while, at least until proper hardware support exists.

Hi,
I don't understand. Are you talking about driver issues, or hardware issues with
the video card?

The motherboard is a Nvidia (their mobo selection is limited) and Nvidia is known
for having a problem with Creative soundcards, nothing serious, but a crackly sound of some sort. I'm hoping a bios revision might clear it up later.

I have been waiting, had the money for over a month. I am getting nervous some disaster will
make it vanish. I have had this computer for 3 years, it's AGP. And it's not fast for a computer of that era.

Btw, the video is the EVGA 320 meg 8800... It does a nice job chewing up benchmarks; esp. when overclocked.

Right now the issues with the 8800 is:

no DX10 drivers

no SLI support under Vista

reduced DX9 performance compared to XP pro.

This is most likely a driver issue, but the overall collection of problems people are seeing is enough that it's worth it to wait, unless you have a purpose for being bleeding edge.

The computer forum I ahve started going back to right now is completely flooded with Vista related issues, and there has been quite a bit of rage about how NONE of the cardmakers have DX10 support yet. GIven once again it's probably a driver, but that's still ridiculous.

Oh, and the sound is a giant can of worms I refuse to start up...MS screwed up hard on that.

Sort of,
I used to futz around with my computers, swapping cards and adding ram. But I haven't opened the box I have now even once in the 3 years I have had it. It's filthy in there

So as I get close to 60, I am thinking I want something I don't have to futz with. This ought to be good for a couple years, and even then I could just throw in a different video card and a faster cpu.

ahh, so things are a bit clearer.

Personally I would wait until service pack 1 for Vista is out before even moving to it, but if you just want a new PC without fuss, I say go for it. If you had to go through the Windows XP migration fun when it came out, you know what I'm talking about.

fava beans? Maybe natto, at least it's Japanese.

Natto is fermented soybeans...I won't try it (looks really gross IMO), but I've heard it's alright.

Buy it from me.

The shipping will be free and you will get a significantly faster computer because I optimize every computer I build to run as fast and as stable as possible, for free.

BTW, my warranty = Forever.

Yes, DX10 is barely operable, and so is Vista.

I would know, because I have Vista Ultimate x64 on my Primary rig and half of the DX9 games don't work, and the one DX10 game I have, doesn't work at all (nVidia's DX10 drivers are still in beta, but still, they should work better than "not at all").

I would wait for at least 4 months to get Vista and DX10, by then we will have much less expensive video cards on the market, and more support for the new standard, plus some much needed patches and maybe even a Service Pack for Vista.
