I dislike the poverty wagon...

...because it's going to drive me insane!
It used to be cool to ride the bus. Now it's full of crackheads, crazy people who feel they absolutely need to talk to you, smelly drug dealers, etc. Even worse is during rush hour in a city that has archaic bus service to begin with really makes for an unpleasant time. I'm really glad it's warming up, Im looking to try doing at least 160 days straight on the bike.

Screw you bus!

Note: for anyone here who takes the loser cruiser. this isn't directed at you, you're okay in my books

I'm in no way against public transit, I just hate my public transit.

I really like riding the bus on occassion. It's a good time to decompress and look at all the other people, chill out, and look out the window.

My mom still thinks that the buses are "ok" to ride.

Not that she will ever ride them, but she doesn't understand that normal people have cars and crackheads ride bussess..

I am what is considered normal for the most part, I have a truck that I drive, and bikes that I ride. But I still take the bus quite a bit. Infact, every weekday almost. My truck is expensive to run, thus if I'm going somewhere like school or work (unless I need the truck for something) I take the bus. I can sit and chill, not deal with traffic or other stupid drivers and be nice to my wallet at the same time.

I'm lucky... if I have to go to UT, I just walk about half a block to a shuttle bus. Worst case there is having to stand up and hold a pole for the 15-20 min trip to campus. However, sadly enough I go to another university where it takes hours just to jump the bus exchanges, as each one runs every hour, and they are staggered in such a way that when one arrives at the bus stop, the next one just left, so its an hour spent cooling heels. :/

I feel for ya. I'm all for public transit, yet whenever I go to England I refuse to step one foot on either train or bus. This is a result of a society that worships the car and thinks public transport is nothing but a noose around our necks.

"Anybody seen in a bus over the age of 30 has been a failure in life"
- falsely attributed to Thatcher but matches her attitude anyway

p.s. "loser cruiser" good one

How do you get around then? I catch the tube into London as it's easier than driving. Even when I lived in Sydney I preferred to use the metro when going into the city.

When I come over it's visiting friends and family between Portsmouth, East Grinstead, Caterham, Horsham, and Croydon. Not a chance I could do that on trains for the same cost as with the car.

Plus I usually mix my trips with detours to Rouen and Paris.

I feel sick every time I pay for a train in the UK. It's outrageous that public transport is that expensive and that bad as well. I f***ing loathe Thatcher, Beeching, and all of Blair's 'legacy' for what they've done.

If you had to go into the Big Smoke you'd be better off catching the train.

Oh yeah, I do for London what I do for all large cities. Park on the outskirts, cycle in

I love cycling through London. I get such a kick out of ripping through that city faster than everyone else.

That said, I wouldn't say it's pleasant per se. But still better than the alternatives.

Ummm I know this is foo and all but c'mon. I have to ride the bus. Every...single...stinking...day. Don't make it worse by calling me a crackhead. Your comment is just ignorant.

Cool, saved the trouble of having to pee on the seat yourself before sitting! Or do you prefer to sit, get comfortable and then let fly?

As soon as I sat in it, I could smell it, too. There was the faintest hint of malt liquor in the aroma. Perhaps it was Billy Dee William's seat at some point previous in the day? I dunno. It was gross.

Heh, I call the bus I ride "The Schemie Express." Brits will probably get this. I feel his pain though, and I walk 2 and a half miles for the privilege of taking the bus. As soon as the snow more less clears out, I'm back on the bike.

Roughly once every two weeks, I can't stand it, so I drive. Sorry.
