Put a cheap tape player up there with a Celine Dion tape. Works wonder.

Owls only work for a few days. Pigeons get used to it. Nixalite needle strips work for ledges etc. You can't cover a whole roof with them.

Paint your roof with faux bird doo. They never perch on their own doo.

In all honesty, I'd go for a pellet gun and cleaner pellets. 3 pumps with a cleaner pellet won't cause permanent damage, but they won't be back.

I've found this works quite well. Just the noise alone scares the living **** out of them. (And it keeps the cops at bay whenever my annoying neighbors call them).

A friend and I killed about 30 flying rats with blowguns we made. We made the darts and guns in one day. He was good enough to hit them while flying, but I had to wait until they settled.
All you need is about 2 to 3 feet of copper tubing about 5/8". Coat hangers cut to length with taped paper to make the "fletching" in the form of a cone make mighty fine darts. Sharpened of course. The darts would go in so deep only the cone stopped it from going all the way through. Practice and practice and you will prevail.
Silent, deadly, and cheap.
By the way we got them in the Hindenberg hanger in Lakehurst NJ. at the very top of an elevator shaft. TMI?
