Why TickeMaster sucks more than hard vacuum

Why TicketMaster Sucks

Patty Griffin Tickets = 37 * 2 = $74
Convenience charge = 9.95 * 2 = $19.90
Additional convenience = 2.50 x 2 = $5
Additional fees = $4

Total = $101

So the tickets cost $74 and the extra charges = $27 or about 35% of the cost of the tickets!!!!

I'm surprised they didn't include a 'Stick it up the customers ****' convenience charge

Gotta admit, I loves me some Patty Smith ("Long Road Home"), but might be more fun to save the "extra" money and listen to her on CD at home with your honey, with a glass or two of wine....

One of these days, someone is going to sue them under the anti-scalping laws. Maybe some lawyer'll start a class action lawsuit against them.

If you or I did that, the cops would be all over us!

I haven't paid attention to how the business works, but this suggests the threat of monopoly abuse is growing.

You know, that sounds like a good plan.

I stopped going to concerts when the ticket prices got ridiculous but there are certain artists who we just have to see live. A year ago I didn't even know who Patty Griffin was but my wife turned me on to her music and I'm hooked. What ticks me off is that TicketMaster is essentially a monopoly.

I don't understand how they can get away with that crap. They have to be violating anti-trust laws or something. Grrrr, my hatred for them burns with an undying flame.

I feel the same way with certain symphonic performances.... But the argument against a ticketing monopoly for pop/country/rap concerts is certainly....

They don't charge much for opera tickets in my town.

I still don't like 'em, though. Next opera I go to I'm buying the tix at the booth in advance!

I don't 'do' name band concerts. I go to a local venue that specilizes in moldy oldie bands. Call the box office, pay with VISA and the tickets are on 'Will Call'.

I recently scored tickets to Buffet and paid the same "convenience" fees. Total ripoff, but what are you gonna do? I'd say "eff it", but I only go to one concert every 1-2 years and Buffet is one that me, my wife, and my 3yo spawn enjoy.

Oh, and don't get me started on the hassle associated with getting Buffet tickets. Damn scalpers suck up as many as they can so they can resell them. This year, even with tickets going on sale on a weekday, they were sold out in about 15 minutes. Had I not thought to check a few days prior, I wouldn't have gotten any at all (they go on sale March each year).

Oh well, we got ours. Last time we went to see Buffet, the spawn was resting comfortably in my wife's belly.

Around here, even buying at the gate or ticket booth at most major venues (Buffett not available that way!) you get the crappy TM charges!

And you forgot the $2.50 or so for each ticket TO PRINT THEM OUT ON YOUR OWN COMPUTER!

This is why I try to never use Ticketbastard.

As far as I'm concerned...a "live" CD and my stereo does a good enough job of the concert experience, as opposed to the ticketbastard fees.

The String Cheese Incident (Jamgrass Band) sued Ticketbastard and won! Just a little band from Colorado!

Patty Griffin is a great singer, but $37 for tix? Dang things are getting expensive out there.

Get into for free the old fashioned way: Sleep with the bass player.

I will reiterate...who?

Do you get charged that at a ticketmaster booth or is that for the online version only. Just curious to see how convenient this charge is

Patti Griffin. Click here for some info.

Great singer-songwriter who is too good to get played on most commercial radio stations in the US.

I got charged for buying them online. I think the charge applies in either case but I might be wrong.
