KT is MOVING to Seattle!!

Ok...some of you have already guessed it, but I didn't want to officially post it until I had everything "written in stone".

I wanted to get out of FL since I was a kid. I officially started trying to get out about 5 years ago. I did months (maybe a year) of research and based on my career, my tastes, my lifestyle, I chose Seattle as the perfect place.

To make sure I went out there to visit. I took vacation there in December of 2002.
See pics here.

I finished up my Masters in early 2003 and have been actively trying to get out there ever since then (4 years basically). The market was on a downturn and has been bad. I've been out there a few times for interviews, but nothing ever panned out. I even went out there to interview with another division of the company I work for (Honeywell) 2 years ago which didn't pan out.

Well, finally after all this time, I put in for a position with my employer again out there. I had a phone interview and was hoping that I'd get to the second step (fly me out for face to face interview), but they skipped step 2 and went straight to 3 by calling me with a verbal offer last Thursday.

Today I received and accepted the written offer, so now its in the bag. I'll be looking forward to meeting some Fooster Seattlites soon.

Wow, that's quite the move! Opposite sides of the country...

When is the move taking place?

Good for you. Though, speaking as one who grew up in FL then moved across country...you may miss it quite a bit more than you expect.

But hell, Seattle is cool.

Opposite sides in both directions even. One corner to the opposite corner (excluding Alaska of course).

I'm not sure exactly when it will be other than soon. According to relocation package I get to come out for 5 days to hunt for residence first. That was what the other post was about....trying to get questions answered about areas of Seattle, still wanting local publications that may list houses for rent, etc...

I'm not much of a sports fan, but sure. Maybe we can take a ride together too.

Yeah....I kinda know deep inside that I will, but I know I will like Washington better in general too.

Thanks.

The scariest thing for me right now is "quickly" trying to find an affordable place that will allow two fully grown (rescued) greyhounds.

Despite my earlier comment, I'm sure anything's better than Florida (except perhaps New Jersey or Oklahoma) and Seattle is a pretty nice cosmopolitan city.

Congratulations KT on getting the job where you want to move. Sounds like a well executed plan. Two stones with one bird, so to speak.
