Lost and Found

So I was just riding around today and noticed a bag in the middle of the road. In the bag, which is actually a camera case, was a working digital camera and batteries. I usually never find anything. They didn't put their address or anything anywhere in the case.

Also is their anyway I could get this back to the owner? I can't imagine someone disposing of a perfectly good camera. I've never really found anything before so I don't know what steps to take.

I'd probably run it by the Police station. Any pictures on it might help identify the owner. Who knows, after a specified waiting period, you may end up getting a new camera gratis. At any rate, it never hurts to take the "high road"... Good luck.

Or an ad in the local paper lost and found, if they can ID it it's probably theirs. In a lot of local paper's lost and found the ads are free.

Funny this topic came up. I paused for a brief rest at a bus stop today. Not a soul around. On the bench was a small plastic box; I thought it was a makeup kit. Out of curiousity, I opened it up. Inside were two cigarettes, a Bic lighter, some playing cards, and a small baggie with about a squished golf-ball sized clump of marijuana in it.

I closed the case and put it back where I found it.

I don't smoke.

Somebody probably set it on the car and forgot and drove off and it fell off along the way. I suppose you could run an ad in a local paper or maybe put up a found notice in a couple of nearby stores.

I found that plastic box too. I turned it into the police and they finger printed it. The police are looking for the guy with those finger prints. You were wearing gloves, right DG.

I found one too. Take a look at the pictures...

Mine had pictures from the rooftop of a nearby building - asked the security guy there and found out some contractors were doing something up there, returned it to them. They were most thankful - cheapish camera for documenting stuff they were working on, but replacing it would have cost money. And yeah, they drove off with it on the roof.

I found a picture with a street sign in it. It was a family playing, actually cycling, around a neighborhood and in a driveway. I know the street so what step should I take from here. Where I found it is real close to the street I saw on the sign so I'm going with the theory of it either fell off of bicyle or the roof of a car.

Print the image and post it on the telephone poles in the neighborhood, and include the address of the police station where you dropped the camera off.
