^^I lightweight mtb with fast street tires is ridiculously fun. Makes me miss my old KHS.

I should throw this in a box and send it to you... it would be a blast to ride there on the trails as it just eats that stuff right up.

This arrived today... it is fast enough the way it sits that it might strike fear into many a roadie and tomorrow I am going to put on some 1.25 Avocet cross tyres which have a much faster rollout and should work very well for some fast XC and urban assaults.

Wait wait wait... do they still sell the Avocet Cross II K? Back in the day, that was one of my favorite tires until they killed it. If they still exist, can I get some in 700x32 or 35???

Looking forward to exploring the trails in the winter.

Indeed.

Lampy's Univega is outstanding and he lives in cycling heaven methinks.

I don't normally look twice at SS bikes, but yours is pretty damn cool. There's something very groovy about the patina of the frame juxtaposed against the blingy new parts that would be totally lost; it'd be just another bike if you painted it.

Here's my wabi-sabi-ed ride:

Getting closer to finishing my new-to-me commuter bike, which I own thanks to Sixty Fiver. Even with the suspension-corrected Surly fork altering the head angle, the bike is still very nimble and fast.

Still have to cut the steerer tube to length, figure out what seat I want to use, and swap over my wheels, rack, and dyno-powered lights from my commuter. I also have some super cool Ritchey cranks I'm considering using, but they're 175mm and I prefer 170. Plus I think the old Shimanos look better (but the Ritcheys are lighter).

You know, for those occasions when you'd like to ride a road bike and not have to get all dolled up in lycra and special shoes.

We are going to look like the Proctor racing team when we get our respective bikes out.

Nice to see that the project is moving along so well... those old Shimano cranks are cold forged Deores and are one of my all time favourites.
