Another sweet bike follows me home. I found this one at the swap meet yesterday - my size, stunning to look at, very light - a late 80's Nishiki International. Merry Christmas to me. :

I really don't know how bigbossman finds all these beautiful bikes, but that red bike with the Campy group sure is a winner. It looks even better out on the road.

Thank you, Scott. That red Palo Alto is the crown jewel of my humble fleet, and is my pride and joy.

Wait till you see the bike I'm building up for my little girl. I snagged a nice little Italian Battaglin (Columbus SL tubing) at a thrift shop, and have stripped it down to be built up with a 10 speed Campy Veloce/Centaur mix. here's a preview:

*slaps forehead*

Geez, I need to start visiting the thrift stores more often. I passed on a too-small, low-end, late-70s/early-80s Peugeot once, and that's about it.

Don't feel bad - I go to thrifts fairly regularly, and have never found one like this before. Actually, I didn't even find this one - a friend who knew I was looking to build for my daughter called me one night from the thrift with this bike in hand, and described it over the phone. I gave him the OK to purchase on my behalf, and that's how I ended up with it. He said there were a couple of other fellows hovering around, waiting for him to let go.

It's good to have friends.

As received, it had a full Shimano 600 SIS group. Looked something like this:

You could probably get your money back on that bike selling that saddle in SSFG. As I understand it, those are quite sought-after.

Any plans for the rest of the stripped componentry?

Sought after, you say? eBay!!!

The rest of the parts have been bagged and tagged. Not sure what I'm going to do with them yet, but I've half a mind to hang onto them so that when she outgrows the bike I can slap them back on before I sell it. That way, I can migrate the 10 speed Campy to the next frame. Unless, of course, there is a better group I can snag at that time - or someone convinces me to sell it......

Getting pink with it:

vic32amg, that's a very clean chain, you've reminded me to go clean mine.
Love the Ksyriums. I wouldn't mind a pair myself.

If your weather was anything like down here--I don't think so.
