Do the girls like it rough?

So I decided I wanted to start playing hockey again. ( I played when I was younger) I picked up some new skates over the winter, went skating a few times, and this spring I signed up for an Intermediate Hockey skills clinic. I figure I'll take another skills clinic later in the summer and play in a league next winter.
Anyway there are a few girls in the clinic, which I think is pretty cool. However when we do some one on one drills, offense and defense type stuff, I can't bring my self to go full speed when I'm against a girl. I always back off a little. But then I think WTF, they're one the ice with the boys, they should be treated equal. At the same time I'd look like a jerk if I plowed over a girl.
What do you foos think?

Hockey playing girls don't mind getting checked, slammed and decimated like one of the guys. The ones who can't take it don't ever last anyways.

How many years of fighting did it take for women to gain their equal rights?
Now, you want to deny them that right?
Shame on you!

If it looks like a hockey player, and skates like a hockey player... check the **** out of it!!

Hockey is pretty brutal as far as I know. I think that would be up there as far as a "mans sport".

I'm just curious. What is a man sport?

You should tell that to Siu while she's breaking your arm in half.

I grew up playing Hurling with and against a bunch of farm boys.
Now that is a mans sport. Lost 2 teeth, broke a few bones, and donated many pints of blood.
And I'd do it all over again.

Hee hee. I'm not even gonna justify that.

I usually try to knock them on their backsides, so I can do a quick cover.

You mean, like Football?

You know, where it takes 4 hours to play a one hour game. Where you wear so much padding (way more than hockey players!) that the risk of injury is pretty minimal. Where you run a play for a minute or so - maybe run 10-15 yards, then take a couple minutes "off" so you can all get back together, call a play, line up say some nonsensical words etc etc.

I love hurling, definitley a mans sport. Those guys are tough and damn crazy. We used to have a TV program called Wide World of Sports down here. I used to love watching Cork play Kilkenny when I was a kid. But I couldn't stand the Tour De France when that was on. Go figure.

Sorry, but Rugby is very boring at the moment. It's like it has become stagnet. I used to play Break Away when young and loved it though.

NFL is boring, but they have some real athletes. Fast and strong.

I played hockey for years and have played with a few women. Like any other player, you can see from the look in their eyes just how committed they are. I've seen some women that have that bring it on look and others that appeared timid. No different then the men really, though men tend to camouflage fear better.

As far as checking women, you don't have to slam them to get the job done. Most times a man will outweigh a woman by quite a bit so it really doesn't take a lot of force to knock them off line. Of course there are some really good women hockey players I might not be able to catch in the first place.

Here is my outlook, if a person wants to play a sport regardless of what sport it is you better be able to hang. Its like that saying "if you can't stand the heat get out of the kitchen". No special treatment. Do what you gotta do. I think you will be surprised how strong some of those girls are

Dam straight. Some of my best senseis in Judo and Aikido were women. They had less muscle to move people around by brute force, so when they threw someone it was all leverage and balance. So when I learned from them AND applied muscle, the results were stupefying.
