I just got dropped by a 7 yr old

It was running a mile, so that's why we're in Foo.

My wife signed me up with my son to do a one mile run. There was a 5K going in parallel, so the 1 mile run was mostly 6-8 yr olds and a smattering of parents.

At the word "Go" the kids sprinted. And this sucks because apparently kids can sprint for like 600 yds up hill.

At about 1/2 mile, I caught up to my son who was running very smoothly and lightly. I on the other hand was puffing like a locomotive. And he never really slowed down from there. He even pulled away from me in the last 30yds to legitimately beat me across the line in about 9.5 minutes (probably front quarter or third of the field). 5 minutes later, he's running up and down the last hill cheering other people on.

Never felt so proud to be spanked in a race.

Awesome! Some of those kids can RIDE man - when I was marshalling the 5 Boro Bike last weekend there were a bunch of kids who dropped their parents especially uphill. One got lost and I stayed with them but it took his Dad almost 20 mins to catch up going up the bridge

I hope you dropped many more times like that! Are you going to get him the TeamRyanF Drope the Hamer jersey now?

He'd wear it too - he loves cycling stuff and going fast. Last year I had him on our extend-a-bike and we were pedaling away. All of a sudden I feel the bike start lurching from side to side. I look back and he's standing up/sprinting, smiling, and says: "Look Dad, I'm dancing on the pedals."

Im sure its better running with a lot less mass and less muscle, rather than a strong person who weighs a lot.

Better test him for performance enhancing substances.

When you're 7, donuts are performance enhancing substances.

And yes, BDG, I was pretty stoked to see him sprint on ahead of me.

Hmm, I used to do pixie sticks back then for drug enhancement. Definitely on the banned substances list now for kickball games.

And that's awesome that he dropped you btw.

Cool stories

Now, if donuts were still performance enhancers for adults... that skinny lil' Lance dude would be my peon.

I heard if you snort the pixie sticks, it absorbs into your system faster.

Shorter legs on children keep them lower to ground and more easily able to generate up to 400 watts of power.
