Thank You To Those Who Serve

I know that there are a number of BF members who have served or are currently serving in the United States Armed Forces. Please accept my deepest and sincerest thanks for the sacrifices you made to ensure that America is a bastion of freedom. My family and I can live as we choose to live and worship as we choose to worship because of you. Thank You.

Ummm Jeff, that's for Veteran's Day. Memorial Day is for honoring those who served and died.

^^^Is there some reason the sentiment can only be expressed on 1 day a year?

I always took it to thank those who are serving and remember those who died.

Thank you all!

Too late to tell the ones who died protecting me thanks, but still time to thank those that are living.

The past 5 years Memorial Day has been at Litle Creek Park in South Charleston WV - the Race the Trace MTB Race. The race starts off with someone singing the Star Spangled Banner & an honor guard (either from the VFW, local ROTC or WVARNG). Its kind of cool to see a hundred + MTBers doff thier lids & all pay attention at the same time.... and then they're off!

+1M. And my heart breaks as I read the obits every day of our young fallen. It hurts me so badly, yet, I feel I owe it to them to read these little synopses of their short lives, so that I am aware that they were here.

May it all make sense some day....

Having served in the Army, I know many join out of a sense of duty to our country and service to their fellow Americans, especially since 9/11. I pray for the fallen, and thank those military members, active, or retired, that I meet. Tomorrow I will go to the grave of my father in law as I do every Memorial Day.. He was a true war hero. He almost died trying to save a Marine who jumped out of his foxhole during an attack during the Korean War. He ended up having pieces of that Marine blown through him, and was paralyzed for several months. These are the kind of people we send to war, some of our best young people.
