I usually put some lime and salt on mine. I've been doing it ever since I was a little girl and I still have no idea why I do it. It's done out of habit.

I was taught to do it as a kid....did it for many a year. Then one day as a joke I put a mountain of salt about 3 inches high on it and ate it. It made me vomit.

The next time I tried watermelon, I couldn't stand the thought of salt because of previous experience so I ate it plain. It was soooo much better.

Heh, you conditioned yourself. I'm curious to know if you eat watermelon at all now. Whoops, I let the psychologist come out.

Not much really. I eat it when its in part of a mixed fruit dish, but I never buy one alone because I'm craving it or anything. I do buy cantaloupe and honeydew occasionally though.

That's peanuts in Coca-Cola, the small bottles to be precise.
My dad does that, I have no idea why.

My dad does it. To this day, I can't comprehend it.

Although, I got sick as a kid after eating mushrooms (morels, not poisonous mushrooms) and a lot of watermelon afterwards. Now I don't like either of them. When I'm at a chinese restaurant, I'll actually lie and say I'm allergic to mushrooms. Although, I will occasionally force myself to eat them just so I know I'm not actually allergic and that I still have the mind over matter thing going for me. But I don't enjoy them anymore like I used to, and they creep me out. On pizza, in food, raw on salads, doesn't matter. Mushrooms for the lose.

Watermelon, I like when I eat it now, but I still usually choose not to eat it because of my experience as a kid.

I got sick eating mushrooms a couple times, too. But the following 6 hours really made it worth throwing up a bit.

My dad taught us that when I was 7 or 8. That was back in the early 60's. We could take our quarter that we got from Grampa once a week and head over to Haley's Market on 49th St in St. Pete. Could buy a 16 ounce RC Cola and a bag of Tom's peanuts [salted of course] for that quarter and dump them in the RC! Man O' Man is that good. Even peanuts and chocolate is not as good.

Salt on melon (cantelope too) brings out the sweetness. it's good on sliced mango too- especially green mango.

Yeah some mushrooms are interesting little fungis.

For watermelon, I like it with a slight amount of salt....just a pinch at the top of it.

    It's the whole sweet&salty thing.

I never heard of peanuts in coke/pepsi, but I do like chocolate syrup in Mr. Pibb (called a "dirty Pibb", due to it looking like dirty water).

Hey, don't knock it till you try it! It is totally addicting. It fills you up as well. I wish I had a nickel for each Pepsi or RC with P-nuts in 'em I've had in my life! I would buy a set of disc brakes for the MTN bike.

I beg your pardon! I'm a southerner and I do not put nuts and soda together. I prefer nuts separate.

As for the melon - with salt absolutely. It just tastes good with the sweet/salty thing happening.

Salt enhances natural flavors. Pepsi is an inferior beverage. Peanuts and Coke is where it's at. That is all.

Growing up my mom would leave breakfast on the table for me. It always included a cut orange with salt sprinkled on top. That combinations just plain grosses me out right now.
