    I needs a hobby

With no TV, no school, no bike, and few work hours, I need something to do. I know most people would kill to be in my situation, but I don't have anything I'm really dedicated to, so I'm terribly bored.

I guess I'll keep practicing my harmonica and reading for now, but that can only last so long.

As far as cheap things, running is nice if you have time to kill. Woodcarving ain't bad either.

Start a garden, volunteer at a school or non profit place, learn to cook-eat better-change diet plan-research stuff you like, read a book, bulk up via weight lifting-more calories-protein-book-ect, learn the guitar like PhattTyre said, if you have a pet-build something for it...like a cat-put wood and carpet together and design its own climbing pole, get a fun shooting multi computer game-Call of Duty-Battle field, ect.

Go get a bike for crying out loud! Now that I've got a bike I barely have time for my other hobbies.

Thanks for the replies, but I have problems with some of these ideas.

First, I don't smoke or drink, so there goes clubbing, beer brewing and weed growing.

The reason I don't have a hobby I'm committed to is because I have difficulty committing to an activity that is dependent on obects. That's why I haven't gotten a bike since I gave my old beater bike to Goodwill. That's also why I stopped photography. I think of it like this: I want to be able to do/enjoy the same things now in Berkeley as in 10 years in some third world country (I have no plans of going to such a place, but who knows?).

It doesn't help that I'm kind of a tightwad, too.

So far I've liked EJ123's advice about volunteering the most. I'll look into volunteer opportunities around town (the public library is one option I already know of).

Much of my problem finding a hobby is mental and philosophical, so it's largely my personal problem, but thanks for the replies.
