never thought i'd say this, but...

I was at the boston\yankees game in fenway last night. BEST GAME i've ever been to. The game itself was ok, but that park ROCKS. I've always hated baseball. Growing up in NY shea stadium sucks and yankee stadium isn't much better. It made the game drag on for me and I never truly enjoyed it. Playing it was a little better, But being a lacrosse and hockey player, if i couldn't hit someone, sometime during a game, I wanted nothing to do with it. Last night was the first game I ever enjoyed watching. Something about the Boston crowd, It was more like a religion than an obcession. Having the streets around fenway closed down so people could walk around and drink and eat was awsome. It was my first time in Boston as well, and that city is great. And yes, I walked back to the car in A Boston hat. I never thought i'd say this, But i'm a baseball fan.......Thank you sox.

    Welcome to Red Sox Nation!!

And don't forget the pure history and nostalgia associated with Fenway Park. Sure, new parks are cool and comfy... but Fenway is, well Fenway. Really, the only other park like it is Wrigley Field in terms of "feel". And for me, it's a big part of going to a game.

Before they tore down tiger stadium in detroit, I got to see a game there- red sox vs. tigers. It was great.

None of the seats are very far from the field. Unless you get stuck behind a pole the action is easy to see. Fenway is much more intimate than any other ballpark and makes the game have a very differnet feel as you noted.

It kind of reminds me of going to see the Durham Bulls in the old DAP. Great fun crowd and a small park, the way baseball was meant to be.
