Does acrylic conduct?

MSI told me that my case might be shorting my motherboard somewhere. THe thing they don't know is that my case is all acrylic. The motherboard has no actual contact with metal. Could acrylic possibly be shorting my motherboard somewhere?

Doubtful. I'd still use standoffs to keep the board from pressing against the case, though.

No, acrylic is a pretty good insulator. Check for anything else that might be contacting the mobo someplace where it shouldn't be, but I doubt that's the problem. However, acrylic can accumulate a strong static charge, so make sure you use the standoffs, if it's not too late.

It's probably either a standard item on their troubleshooting checklist, or the techie you got ran out of suggestions so he started speculating.

It's already mounted on standoff's included with the case. I checked very carefully, nowhere does the motherboard contact anything other than those standoffs. I've got send this thing back to MSI for repair, but that means probably a 2-3 week delay. I am tempted to just buy another of the same motherboard and save myself some time, but I also don't feel like spending 100 dollars.

an acrylic case? pics? I got a see thru acrylic case on my computer and I uses the standoff too. I have had no hardware issues (beside a degrading connection on one of my lighted fans) so far (Just curious to see what your pc is like)
